You guys. The original draft of this paragraph said, somewhat facetiously, "Fuck yes we work hard on this. This year we did it through fucking chronic migraines, viral pneumonia, a month of involuntary couchsurfing, and various personal crises." Andcantarina emailed that to me the week BEFORE we encountered, between us: a family death, a several-days long electrical blackout, and a broken modem which removed all home internet access (and PS, it's still not back). Not to MENTION AO3 bugs, broken Python code, and new Twitter DM restrictions.

BASICALLY: your mods have had A Month. Or a few Months. Whatever.
But you know what? If y'all will allow me to get sappy for a minute, you motherfuckers make all the work we do on this in the face of such adversity WORTH IT. Every year when Ca'rina and I get on Skype and talk to each other while we distribute gifts, and watch the squee pour in over our twitter feeds, we always say to each other, "jesus, THIS is why we do this, it makes it all worth it, wow." Because it does. So thank you thank you THANK YOU for being amazing, all of you, you literally give us the energy to continue to do this <3

Warnings for: slightly rough sex, come play, and barebacking.
klb's Reader's Note: I always felt a strong connection to this story, and I ended up recording it on a week after I had multiple terrible blowup fights that I desperately wished had gone this way instead. In fact, I felt *so* connected to the story and to wanting to do it justice that I got a little nervous at the last minute and ended up recording it fairly tipsy (although I don't think you can tell except a little half-trip over a word at the beginning). I don't love every second of this recording, but there are a lot of moments I do love and that do, I think, a pretty decent job of capturing what I was feeling about my own experiences and about the story. And the awesome thing is that most of the parts that I didn't quite hit how I wanted to, anna_unfolding totally nailed. I'm really happy with these recordings as a pair, and with the different perspectives they have, as well as with the parts they have in common. Plus more missbeizy podfic in the world is always a very very good thing in my book!
Anna's Reader's Note: klb and I decided to each record this fic and post our work together. You're welcome to listen to either, and we encourage you to listen to both. We didn't discuss how we were performing the fic beforehand. The differences in our takes reveal how much each performer brings their own interpretation and experience to the podfic. I believe the similarities you can hear in our work show the continuity of the text and also the shared head canon of the performers.

I told her tonight that I didn't actually get the extent of this fic or what the author is saying until I recorded it, until I had to embody Gerard's hopelessness and his longing to do more than worry about where the next pill is coming from. I actually broke down sobbing when he touches the Trans Am and recalls painting it as Party Poison. This is a stunning fic that I could talk about for hours: its thread through Gerard Way's rl, what TBP and DD meant to the band, what it's like to be absolutely terrified of dying or crashing but then coming to terms with it and choosing to live or die trying. Somehow this short anon killjoys fic captures so much of what moved me about MCR's work and journey.

We added Dear Podficcer letters and treats, we had a much bigger sign-up list, andparaka did NOT try to pinch-hit her own gift, but DID get excited about her gift from me...which was NOT actually from me and was, in fact, from reena_jenkins. (It’s a lot less complicated than it sounds, but where’s the fun explaining the joke? WE LOVE YOU LINDSAY)
BUT DESPITE THE ROUGH PATCHES, WE ALL GOT THROUGH IT! And amazingly enough, with only one pinch-hitter! (We <3 youanalise010 YOU ROCK!)
