Happy 14th annual #ITPE/technically 1st Informal Tumblr Podfic Exchange!!!! Thank you for bearing with us in our switch to a new platform! We’ve had a few hiccups but now that we know where those are, future years will hopefully run much more smoothly!

Here’s some stats and highlights from this year’s #ITPE!

We had 81 participants this year, and you made 313 podfics (including some ~sekrit~ gifts not available on the masterlist) for a total run time of 140 hours, 59 minutes, and 4 seconds–that’s over FIVE DAYS of audio!

We have 4 simulpods this year! Which is less than we expected, given some of the niche fandoms and crossovers we matched y’all on, so congratulations on finding a diversity of fics to record! [tumblr.com profile] sunshineprincejeremyknox | [tumblr.com profile] flowerparrish and [tumblr.com profile] jeremyknox | [tumblr.com profile] kbirbpods were responsible for two of those simulpods, one which they gifted to each other and the other which they both gifted to the same person. [tumblr.com profile] eafay70 and [tumblr.com profile] tinybluebirdcloak both gifted the same fic to [tumblr.com profile] read-by-silverandblue. Finally, [tumblr.com profile] alliaskisthepossibilityoflove and [tumblr.com profile] rhea314 both recorded the same fic for different participants!

While #ITPE encourages participants to embrace the no-minimums, low-stress vibe, some of y’all do like to Do the Most, and we like to recognize extraordinary effort when we see it!

[tumblr.com profile] Opalsong, usually a notorious podfic robot, has had a lot going on this year in terms of school and was worried she would not be able to hit the productivity highs of previous years. So we, as mods, thought, “Great! We know what to do! We’ll match her with someone on one very specific OT3 that this recipient has been requesting for years, in a fandom not especially known for blanket permission, and that way Opal won’t feel compelled to make a bajillion podfics because the pool will be so small! We are solving so many problems with this match!” And we thought we were so clever! Only for Opalsong to find a 90k fanfic and turn in a 12 hour podfic. Well. We tried! But clearly Opalsong is going to Opalsong. <3

By far our most prolific gifter this year was [tumblr.com profile] sunshineprincejeremyknox | [tumblr.com profile] flowerparrish, who not only made 6 gifts for zir recipient (including a 4 hour podfic), but also 31 treats. Not far behind was [tumblr.com profile] mistbornhero who made 7 main gifts and 23 treats! [tumblr.com profile] jeremyknox | [tumblr.com profile] kbirbpods made 4 main gifts and 18 treats! We also had generous treaters in [tumblr.com profile] wanderingjedihistorian, [tumblr.com profile] reena-jenkins, [tumblr.com profile] blackestglass, [tumblr.com profile] pezzax, and [tumblr.com profile] wilfriede! Plus, honorable mentions to [tumblr.com profile] daisydiversions and [tumblr.com profile] Annapods for the 10 and 6 hour (respectively) podfics they made for their recipients!

Finally, we'd like to extend some thank you’s to:

-Data mod [archiveofourown.org profile] flowersforgraves for converting all the sign up data to airtable which makes matching so much easier.
-[archiveofourown.org profile] Asymptotical and [archiveofourown.org profile] Dragonflies_and_Katydids for creating the coding we used to generate distribution day templates.
-Everyone who offered to pinch hit, especially [tumblr.com profile] sunshineprincejeremyknox | [tumblr.com profile] flowerparrish and [tumblr.com profile] Jetainia, though thankfully we did not end up needing them to fulfill those pinch hits!
-And as always, [tumblr.com profile] exmanhater for ITPE’s permanent hosting

Now let’s get on to what you’re really here for…..the masterlist!! Here’s the masterlist spreadsheet for this year’s exchange!

Happy 13th annual #ITPE!!!! As we mentioned on Twitter when we opened sign-ups, this is likely the last year we'll run the exchange on Twitter given the Elongated Musk of it all and its rapidly degrading usability. We don't make this decision easily and we're sad that a beloved staple of podfic fandom must necessarily come to an end. It's been a joy and an honor to run this exchange for you. We'll be in touch in a few weeks to discuss the future of the exchange. It's unlikely we'll find a platform that will allow us to completely re-create a lot of the culture around the exchange, but we're hopeful we'll find a way to make sure we can serve as much as the community as we can in collaboration with you. <3

In happier and more exciting new, here’s some stats and highlights from this year’s #ITPE!

We had 59 participants this year, and you made 320 podfics (including some ~sekrit~ gifts not available on the masterlist) for a total run time of 185 hours, 1 minute and 54 seconds—that’s over SEVEN DAYS of audio! Even though we had considerably less participants this year, y'all managed to produce nearly as much audio as last year!

We had 6 simulpods. This year’s lattice_frames Award (named after her when she did this three years running) goes to [twitter.com profile] theshmaylor and [twitter.com profile] spirographeme for podficcing each other the same main gift! [twitter.com profile] Opalsong and [twitter.com profile] heriros also podficced the same gift for each other (as a main gift and a treat, respectively). Opalsong and [twitter.com profile] flowerparrish podficced 2 of the same stories to treat other participants in the exchange and [twitter.com profile] bluegeekEM and [twitter.com profile] Jetpods podficced the same story as a gift for their recipients. Finally, in a delightful turn of events, [twitter.com profile] mulb_graceful gifted [twitter.com profile] esbielle with the same fic that esbielle gifted [twitter.com profile] revolutionaryjo!

Our resident podfic robot Opalsong didn't disappoint, producing 27 podfics this year. [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins focused on length over quantity, producing nearly 11 and a half hours of audio and treating just about everyone who requested Stranger Things. flowerparrish went absolutely wild this year, producing 22 main gifts for zir recipient and 24 treats, for a total of 46 podfics. [twitter.com profile] MistbornHero had a productive year as well, producing 14 main gifts and 11 treats, for a total of 25 podfics! We also had generous treaters in [twitter.com profile] pieces0fstars and [twitter.com profile] kbirbpods, who made 17 and 14 treats, respectively!

Finally, we'd like to extend some thank you’s to:

-Data mod [archiveofourown.org profile] flowersforgraves for converting all the sign up data to airtable which made matching seamless this year.
-[archiveofourown.org profile] Asymptotical and [archiveofourown.org profile] Dragonflies_and_Katydids for creating the coding we used to generate distribution day templates.
-[twitter.com profile] SMadd9 for pinch hitting
-And as always, [twitter.com profile] exmanhater for ITPE’s permanent hosting

Happy 12th annual #ITPE!!!! Here’s some stats and highlights from this year’s #ITPE!

We had 71 participants this year, and you made 352 podfics (including some ~sekrit~ gifts not available on the masterlist) for a total run time of 185 hours, 55 minutes and 47 seconds—that’s over SEVEN DAYS of audio! Even though we had considerably less participants this year, y'all managed to outperform last year's output (when we had a record number of participants)!

This was the year of multipods! 10 stories received the multipod treatment, with one story getting triple-podded by what we affectionately called our Stranger Things loop. Hilariously, [twitter.com profile] exmanhater recorded a story for [twitter.com profile] greedydancer, which she recorded for [twitter.com profile] melancholymace, who then recorded that story for [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins. This loop was responsible for 3 other multipods, courtesy of [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins podding the entirety of one bp author's oeuvre, whom [twitter.com profile] greedydancer and [twitter.com profile] exmanhater also podded. (In fact, [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins and [twitter.com profile] exmanhater gifted each other the same story.)

[twitter.com profile] kajebirb gifted [twitter.com profile] Opalsong two podfics that [twitter.com profile] Opalsong recorded as gifts for other participants. Similarly, [twitter.com profile] Yevievt recorded a gift for [twitter.com profile] sisi_rambles who also recorded that same story for their recipient. [twitter.com profile] knight_tracer and [twitter.com profile] the24thkey both podded the same story for [twitter.com profile] Smadd9, while [twitter.com profile] heriros and [twitter.com profile] MistbornHero recorded the same story for [twitter.com profile] flowerparrish. Finally, [twitter.com profile] kitsuneheart and [twitter.com profile] MistbornHero both podficced the same story for different participants.

Let's check in with our podfic robots this year, shall we? [twitter.com profile] Opalsong) was back to her typical ITPE form, producing 40 podfics for over 41 hours of audio. [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins had a relatively sedate year (for her) but managed to produce 24 podfics for over 10 hours of audio. [twitter.com profile] blackestglass produced 31 treats, on top of covering 2 main gift assignments, and [twitter.com profile] MistbornHero produced 21 treats for nearly 9 hours of audio. Other generous treaters included [twitter.com profile] flowerparrish and [twitter.com profile] roseszain who made 13 and 12 treats respectively.

And finally, some thank you’s to:

-[archiveofourown.org profile] Asymptotical and [archiveofourown.org profile] Dragonflies_and_Katydids for helping the mods with figuring out the coding to create templates for DM-ing your gifts this year, since we lost our data mod this year.
-[twitter.com profile] silverbluefic for helping the mods figure out how to set up the AO3 collection and sign-ups
-[twitter.com profile] flowerparrish and [twitter.com profile] blackestglass for pinch hitting
-And as always, [twitter.com profile] exmanhater for ITPE’s permanent hosting

Happy 11th annual #ITPE!!!! The first #ITPE was in 2011— can you believe it’s been 10 whole years??!

2021 has been A Year and we’re grateful for everyone who participated despite everything that’s been going on. Here’s some stats and highlights from this year’s #ITPE!

We had 84 participants this year, and you made 296 podfics (including some ~sekrit~ gifts not available on the masterlist), in about 127 fandoms, for a total run time of 176 hours, 52 minutes and 7 seconds—that’s over SEVEN DAYS of audio!

There were 5 simulpods. This year’s lattice_frames Award (named after her when she she did this three years running) goes to [twitter.com profile] c_ea_ze and [twitter.com profile] FumblesMcStupd, for podficcing each other the same main gift, with a hat tip to [personal profile] knight_tracer and [twitter.com profile] pxssnelke for both podficcing two of the other five simulpods. In a delightful turn of events, [twitter.com profile] sisi_rambles made a gift for her recipient, [twitter.com profile] RionaaP, who also podficced that same fic for THEIR recipient!

How did our resident podfic robots do this year? Opal–”Oh, I’m probably going to be too busy to podfic much this year”–song ([twitter.com profile] opalsong) still managed a whopping 19 gifts for her recipient this year, INCLUDING a super-sekrit 5 and a half hour long multivoice. [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins also had a relatively sedate year (for her) but managed to treat almost a dozen people on top of her very generous gifts for her recipient. While she cannot compete in terms of cumulative audio length, this year, [twitter.com profile] blackestglass inadvertently podficced her way to most number of gifts in the collection after trying to rig #ITPE to get more Murderbot podfics and, when that didn’t pan out, deciding that she was just going to have to make it happen herself by treating everyone who requested that fandom. Special shout-outs to [twitter.com profile] esbielle who created a nearly 10 hour podfic for their recipient and to [twitter.com profile] JoCarthage who created an 18 HOUR PODFIC for their recipient!! Holy wow!

And finally, some thank you’s to:

-[twitter.com profile] regretsonmain for handling the data and creating data-related memes (this year the team united a data scientist [twitter.com profile] regretsonmain and a librarian [twitter.com profile] vworpvworp and we hope [twitter.com profile] blackestglass and [twitter.com profile] knight_tracer enjoyed our Opinions on categorization)
-[twitter.com profile] flowerparrish for pinch hitting
-[twitter.com profile] Gilraina for editing assistance
-And as always, [twitter.com profile] exmanhater for ITPE’s permanent hosting

Hey y'all. 2020 was a pretty rough year. No chatter or stats this year, just a few thanks to give:

  • my senior co-mod [twitter.com profile] knight_tracer, who stepped up and took on a ton more work this time around and is truly a champ,
  • our new mods this year, [twitter.com profile] blackestglass and our data specialist [twitter.com profile] regretsonmain, who are both extremely awesome and have probably saved my personal sanity multiple times,
  • our awesome pinch-hitters this year, [twitter.com profile] heriros & [twitter.com profile] exmanhater,
  • [twitter.com profile] exmanhater again, who provides us with permanent hosting, and [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan, who created & supports the script that generates this post,
  • and all of you, for making this exchange what it has become over the last TEN YEARS <333 ilu all, thank you 💖

Let's start 2021 off with a buttload of new podfic, shall we?

You know what's under here, come and get it. )

Uh. Hi friends. Happy...late January? *ducks flying produce* Genuinely, our sincerest apologies for the completely unprecedented lateness of this post—the unusual lateness of Hanukkah this year combined with bad mod health in a way that we're putting policies in place to keep from happening ever again. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE <333

2019 HIGHLIGHTS:

  • For the first year since the very first year of the exchange, when it was nearly a QUARTER of the size it is now, we didn't need a SINGLE pinch hitter!!! Y'all, minimum limits or no, for a nearly 80 person exchange, that is nigh unheard of, so give yourselves a pat on the fuckin' back, we're proud of you.
  • This year's [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames Multipodding Award goes to [twitter.com profile] lunate8 & [twitter.com profile] secretsofluftnarp, who managed to pod the same Untitled Goose Game/The Good Place fic for each other! We also had a few other multipods this year—[twitter.com profile] knight_tracer & [twitter.com profile] litrapod both received two versions of the same fic, [twitter.com profile] blackestglass received a pod of the same fic she podded for someone else, and, improbably, we had two versions of a fic involving four different people in a tiny fandom that only three people signed up for! Love to see people getting into new fandoms ;)
  • So how are our favorite Podfic Robots doing this year? I'm proud to say that [twitter.com profile] opalsong & [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins are back in usual form, collectively producing 43% of the entire runtime of podfic to come out of the exchange this year. Y'all're crazy, and we love you for it <3
  • So what IS the total runtime this year, then? We collected a total of 318 podfics this year, for a total runtime of.....(drumroll, please)..............217 hours, 53 minutes, 03 seconds—over NINE DAYS OF AUDIO. Hopefully well over a week's worth of podfic to put in your ears was worth the extra long wait ;)

Big thanks to the following people:

  • [twitter.com profile] exmanhater, for providing us with our permanent hosting. If you've found this post in 2024 and all the links still work, she's the one you should send the fruit basket to ;)
  • forever and always, [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan for writing and troubleshooting/providing support for the script we use to generate this post (GitHub page here!) You think THIS masterlist was late, lol, can you IMAGINE if we had to do this by hand still?! HAH!

To everyone who patiently (or not so patiently!) waited through the delays this year, who has come back year after year, or maybe just popped your head in for the first time this year—all of this is for y'all, and we love you <333

And NOW, what you're really here for...

GETCHyer pods here, FRESH pods outta the oven! )

Can I just say, from the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU ALL FOR ACTUALLY PRODUCING A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF PODFIC THIS YEAR, I feel SIGNIFICANTLY less like I just got run over by a truck this year!!!

2018 HIGHLIGHTS:

  • We added [twitter.com profile] knight_tracer as a mod, and she has been EXTREMELY helpful, so super shoutout to her! :D
  • Special mod thanks to [twitter.com profile] JonasSollers who, at the mods' request, took video of [twitter.com profile] hanako_noriko receiving her gift (she waited a very long time) and actually GIF'd the moment for us when she realized that she had gotten an hour-long podfic for a super-obscure fandom (which her Dreamwidth username comes from!) that she has asked for every year she's signed up and no one else has ever offered until this year. It was truly a highlight of gift distribution for us 😂
  • I've mentioned it a couple times on twitter, but this is the first year the exchange shrunk—both in terms of number of people who signed up and amount of work produced—and frankly, we were due for it. I ONLY NEEDED ONE BOTTLE OF WINE THIS YEAR!! A MIRACLE!!!!!
  • We had FAR fewer multipods than we've had in previous years; [twitter.com profile] exmanhater podded a fic that she also received as a gift, and the same Good Place fic was podded and gifted by & to two separate people, but that was it. We're diversifying, y'all!
  • We ALSO needed a lot fewer pinch hits than we have in the past, and one of them happened to be able to be covered by something a mod already had recorded! WELL DONE EVERYONE ON GETTING YOUR STUFF IN <3
  • I can only assume that at the annual meeting of the Podfic Robots club, they must've decided "let's go easy on the ITPE mods this year." [twitter.com profile] Rjcreighton took a (VERY well-deserved!) year off from her usual craziness, and [twitter.com profile] opalsong seriously scaled back from previous years' number of podfics & runtime (maybe she DOES have a sense of scale after all?! I LIVE IN HOPE). Shoutout to [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins for completing a 35 hour monster ON TOP of a few dozen treats, because it would honestly feel wrong if at least ONE of them didn't go for broke, lmao.
  • Alright, enough dallying, how much ACTUAL podfic is there this year, then? The TOTAL RUN TIME of all 268 podfics produced this year is..............203 hours, 52 minutes, 59 seconds which is NEARLY EIGHT AND A HALF DAYS OF AUDIO. Even when we shrink, we still hook you up with over a week's worth of podfic to ring in the new year ;)

Big thanks to the following people:

  • our awesome pinch hitter, [twitter.com profile] semperfiona!
  • [twitter.com profile] exmanhater, for providing us with permanent hosting! If you're finding this years down the line and everything's still active, thank her :)
  • as always, [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan for writing and troubleshooting/providing support for the script we use to generate this post (GitHub page here!) If it weren't for his script, even with a podfic output closer to 2015 numbers than 2017, you'd be getting this.....uh, sometime in like, February maybe? THE YEARS WHEN I CAN HAND-CODE THIS SHIT FOR Y'ALL ARE MANY MOONS PAST XD

Infinite thanks to everyone who made podfic, received podfic, squee'd on Twitter, ordered me pizza while I was coding, yelled at me on Discord to get BACK to coding, and generally participated in any way, up to and including lurking and patiently waiting for this masterlist to be posted. We do this for y'all, and you've kept us going for eight years and counting <3

Now, WITHOUT FURTHER ADO....

You guys have done it. You've broken me. I am writing this from the afterlife, deceased. I'm having trouble stringing coherent sentences together, because I have been staring for so long at the massive amounts of fucking podfic y'all produced. For reals. I went through TWO (2) bottles of wine this year!! Well fucking done everyone, I don't know how you manage to somehow top the previous year EVERY single time XD It causes me so many tears and genuinely, please, never stop <3

2017 HIGHLIGHTS:

  • In "this year's IRL mod emergencies," (because it isn't ITPE season unless we've each had at least ONE) [twitter.com profile] vworpvworp managed to concuss themselves at the same time that I ended up in the ER for emergency surgery, which was, miraculously, the day podfics were due. Shoutout to everyone who sent us well-wishes on Twitter; as ~exciting as that unplanned 24 hour universal deadline extension was, we ARE actually finally taking steps to make sure that nothing like this happens again in the future -.-"
  • I've been posting bar charts for years, but I actually finally bothered to graph the growing number of archive files every year. I now know to brace myself for >1,250 archive files next year, and am obviously appropriately terrified. (For those of you EXTREME nerds out there, the equation is y = 73.285714 - 24.011905x + 21.4880952x2; I was expecting exponential growth, but quadratic actually had the highest correlation coefficient.)
  • Speaking of number of archive files, this year's main gifts alone make up 400 archive files, which is just over the TOTAL files produced in the first THREE YEARS of the exchange put together. Holy wow.
  • This year the [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames Multipodding Award goes to [personal profile] klb & [twitter.com profile] luvtheheaven, who podficced the same fic for each other as part of their main gifts!
  • We actually had a LOT more multipodding this year than we've ever had in the past—in addition to the above instance, we had fifteen fics that were podded more than once as part of the exchange this year, including our first triple pods (x2!!!!*), what even??! Amazing. [twitter.com profile] Hananobira podficced TWO different things for [twitter.com profile] opalsong that she in turn podficced for other people; [twitter.com profile] knight_tracer also received two gifts that she also podded for other people; [twitter.com profile] greedydancer, [twitter.com profile] CalliopePodfic, [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames, and [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins all received a gift they also podded; [twitter.com profile] the24thkey & [twitter.com profile] Lunate8 both got double versions of a fic; and the same Rogue One fic was podficced three times, two of which were for [twitter.com profile] forzandopod. There were three additional instances of fics that were podded twice by and for different people. So many different versions to choose from!!
    • * even if one was planned—and shoutout to all y'all who sneakily planned that at [community profile] podfication, I had NO CLUE, [twitter.com profile] vworpvworp can verify my shock and amusement when I got my gifts once I figured out what was going on—although apparently it was only PARTIALLY PLANNED because one of them didn't even know about the existing ~plot!! Truly it was The Year Of The Multipod XDDD
  • Even if she didn't end up with the multipodding award named after her this year, special shoutout to [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames and also [twitter.com profile] heriros for being delightfully good sports about the fact that we were VERY MEAN and matched them with each other this year, even though we KNEW that they had just moved in together shortly before signups this year, making the "keep your assignment secret!" mandate appreciably more difficult for them };P
  • Shall we check in on the Podfic Robots club? [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins, [twitter.com profile] opalsong, and [twitter.com profile] rjcreighton had a relatively "low key" year by their standards...which means they collectively produced 161 podfics totaling 101 hours, 58 minutes, and 57 seconds. That's nearly 40% of the total run time produced this year. I'm exhausted just THINKING about this, how do they do it??! Speaking of....
  • The TOTAL RUN TIME of all 497 podfics produced this year is, (yallreadyforthis.mp3....) 260 hours, 5 minutes, 16 seconds WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK THAT'S 10 DAYS, 20 HOURS, 5 MINUTES AND 16 SECONDS. I CANNOT EVEN, Y'ALL. WTAFFFFfffff
  • EDIT: also what the fuck, I had to split the treats post into TWO POSTS THIS YEAR, you motherfuckers, fucking hell

HUGE thanks to the following people:

  • our amazing pinch hitters, [twitter.com profile] cryingonsundays, [twitter.com profile] jadesfire2808, [twitter.com profile] joyinrep, [twitter.com profile] knight_tracer, & [twitter.com profile] opalsong
  • our wonderful volunteer podbook compilers, [twitter.com profile] pattyisnickname, [twitter.com profile] hanako_noriko, [twitter.com profile] FPS_List, [twitter.com profile] knight_tracer, & [twitter.com profile] idellaphod
  • [twitter.com profile] exmanhater, who has provided us with our own hosting going forward! A million thanks to her for this, especially if you're finding this post a few years down the line—she is the reason all of the images & download links below are still active, so thank her especially ;)
  • as always, [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan for writing and troubleshooting/providing support for the script we use to generate this post (which, if anyone is curious, now has a GitHub page!) This list would literally not exist in this form if it wasn't for his script, because lol, the days when I can code this shit by hand in two days are looooooooooooooooong past XP

Thank you to absolutely everyone who participated in any way, whether it was your first time signing up or your seventh, whether you made podfic or cover art or merely lurked on twitter waiting for this masterlist to go up. None of this would be possible without each and every one of you, and your incredible enthusiasm is what makes us mods keep putting ourselves through this every year. We love you all ♥

aka everyone's favorite annual podfic gift exchange run entirely over twitter with no limits and no rules an increasing amount of rules (but we try to keep it loose), which now has reached the point of producing such a mind-blowing amount of podfic that we really ought to stop counting

(If you'd like to see previous years' master lists, 2011 is here, 2012 is here, 2013 is here, 2014 is here, and 2015 is here.)

Well 2016 fucking sucked. Who wants to start 2017 out with a metric FUCKTON of podfic?!

No like, for reals, WHAT THE FUCKING HELL, y'all are trying to kill me aren't you. (But because we have the best participants in the world, you made sure I was eating to try and keep me away from the edge of sanity! Luv u guys <3)

2016 HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Let us take a moment of silence to acknowledge the end of [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames's INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE streak of podding the same thing she received as a gift three years in a row. You may not have completed the dick trick, Rose, but know that we are all still laughing with you in our hearts. (And hey, this takes some pressure off the mods in matching you next year!)
  • Even though [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames may not be on the multipodding list this year, we still had five instances of multipodding! [twitter.com profile] lunate8 & [twitter.com profile] theleanansidhe both ended up podding a fic that they ALSO received as a gift, and two different people podded the same fic for [twitter.com profile] justaphage! There were also two other instances of the same fic being podded by different people for different recipients.
  • Shoutout to noted member of the elite Podfic Robots club [twitter.com profile] rjcreighton, who made a gift for every single person who signed up this year what even (INCLUDING THE PERSON who we left off the treats list at their request, so she had to go HUNT DOWN THEIR SIGNUP, jfc THAT IS DEDICATION)!!!!!!!
  • You guys produced, are you ready for this? 7 DAYS, 15 MINUTES, AND 27 SECONDS of podfic. If you downloaded every podfic on this list, you could literally listen to new podfic continuously WITHOUT STOPPING for AN ENTIRE WEEK!!! That is just over 168 HOURS. Wow.
    • Speaking of that Podfic Robots club...they are, in fact, responsible for a jaw-dropping 78% of that total length count (a little over 130 hours). So hat tip to [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins, [twitter.com profile] rscreighton, and [twitter.com profile] opalsong for making my FTP client cry.
  • No Seriously, So Much Podfic, Continued: WELL DONE, GUYS. YOU'VE FINALLY DONE IT. The masterlist has OFFICIALLY gotten TOO LONG; we hit Dreamwidth's character limit. Welcome to a brave new world—a world in which I have to create an ENTIRE SEPARATE POST for treats. Pat yourselves on the back.

HUGE thanks to our amazing pinch hitters, [twitter.com profile] argentumlupine, [twitter.com profile] opalsong, and [twitter.com profile] templemarker; [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins, [twitter.com profile] yue_ix, [twitter.com profile] akamine_chan, [twitter.com profile] pattyisnickname, [twitter.com profile] kalakirya, & [twitter.com profile] idellaphod for volunteering to make cover art for many people; and as ever, [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan for writing, running, and troubleshooting the script we use to generate this post, which at this point we literally could not make this post without because y'all are TOO DAMN PROLIFIC!

Thank you for coming back year after year, thank you for giving us a shot for the first time this year, thank you even if your only involvement is to greedily soak up the masterlist's offerings. We couldn't put ourselves through this much stress as effectively on our own <3

(Note from [twitter.com profile] vworpvworp: as far as I can figure, just over a thousand podfics have been produced for this exchange since we started it in 2011. LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE.)

Alright, enough thanks, enough stats, time for what you're really here for:

aka everyone's favorite annual podfic gift exchange run entirely over twitter with no limits and no rules a few rules, which in recent years has begun to produce a breathtaking amount of both mod tears and podfic

(If you'd like to see previous years' master lists, 2011 is here, 2012 is here, 2013 is here, and 2014 is here.)

Well. Happy (early) new year, podfic fandom.

You guys. YOU GUYS. FIVE YEARS. Ermahgerd.

One of these days you are either ACTUALLY going to break the archive, or possibly just my brain. Like, what even is this nonsense, jfc. Y'all crazy. I love all of you.

THIS YEAR'S HIGHLIGHTS:
  • In a truly stunning and HIGHLY statistically improbable twist, [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames completed the hat trick; for the utterly breathtaking THIRD YEAR IN A ROW, she and her recipient have managed to pod the same story for each other. We don't know how she does it, but we're highly suspicious that she's hacked into our spreadsheets. (And yes, this is indeed what this tweet was about.)

  • There were also, once again, six instances of multipodding, which, in this day and age of BP authors, seems to be our usual rate of multipods!
    • (Personal side note: y'all seem to know MY taste weirdly well, because out of the fourfive treats you made for me, one I had actually intended to pod as a treat for someone else but ran out of time—in fact I MADE THE AUTHOR WRITE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE with the intention of podding it as a treat, one I DID pod as a treat for someone else, oneTWO I was actually an unlisted beta/cheerleader on, and one was less surprising because it was gifted to me on AO3, but. Nonetheless: ilu all XD <3)

  • Hella snaps to [twitter.com profile] rjcreighton for making a mind-blowing THIRTY-NINE TREATS, which is nearly 60% of the total participants this year!!!
  • Personal shoutout to [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins for actually reading my mind in this tweet, which was, in fact, literally a thing I tweeted after a conversation during matching with C about wanting to make more Tim/Kon podfic happen. This tweet was not actually an opportunistic joke, and I feel like a supervillain now >:D

Special thanks to our wonderful pinch hitters, [twitter.com profile] AilisT and [twitter.com profile] pattyisnickname, and [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan as always for writing and running his LIFESAVING script which we use to generate this post.

I'd also like to take a moment to get kind of sappy and personal thank all of YOU, for, despite all of the mod tears, making this whole exchange possible and such a joy to run for the fifth (FIFTH!! WOW) year now. I really do love you guys, this challenge has gotten me through some ROUGH xmas seasons (a bad time of year for me) the last few years, and I'd particularly like to thank my incredible co-mod [twitter.com profile] vworpvworp for being truly amazing. I couldn't do this without her, and I OBVIOUSLY couldn't do it without all of you. Thank you ♥

Okay, enough chatter. Enough sappy thanks. I know what you're here for.

aka everyone's favorite annual podfic gift exchange run entirely over twitter with no limits, no rules okay fine we're past the point of pretending there are no rules. still run entirely on mod tears though!

(If you'd like to see previous years' master lists, 2011 is here, 2012 is here, and 2013 is here.)

Yes, that's right, IT'S HERE (FINALLY!!!) Holy crap, you guys. YOU MADE SO MUCH PODFIC, I'm stunned tbh. SO. MUCH. PODFIC!!!

SOME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • No, seriously. So. Much. Podfic.
  • In an unexpected twist that, to be totally honest, had the mods tearing up from laughter, for the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames and her gifter/recipient (this year it was [twitter.com profile] exmanhater) podded the exact same fic FOR EACH OTHER. Stunning.
  • In general, this was very much The Year Of The Multipod (bless you, blanket permission authors.) In addition to the above instance, we had four instances of the same fic podded by two different people as gifts for different people, and one instance of the same fic being podded by two different people as gifts for the SAME person. (in retrospect, I should have seen this coming—it's the only fic on AO3 tagged with both hockey pairings I requested, Be has BP, and my name is on it in beta credits, so XD thank you both, I will treasure both versions <3) That's a total of SIX multipods! Twelve podfics! That is not an insignificant number!
  • [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins had a good run with the Friendly Neighborhood Podficcing Robot title, but this year, [twitter.com profile] opalsong has decisively claimed it from her, submitting a total of thirty-eight hours and twenty-seven seconds of podfic between both main gifts and treats. Please no one try to beat this, I'm not sure my SFTP upload speeds to the Audiofic Archive could take it >.>
  • Shoutout to [twitter.com profile] hananobira for creating TWENTY-ONE extra treats! YOU ROCK <3

SPECIAL THANKS!
  • [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan for once again improving and debugging his code that we use to generate this masterlist (without which, is2fg, y'all'd be waiting another week for this post), and [twitter.com profile] MaeMetaphysical for additional Python code help
  • our wonderful and generous pinch hitters, [twitter.com profile] templemarker, [twitter.com profile] sapphirescribe, [twitter.com profile] heriros, and [twitter.com profile] revolutionjack <3
  • [twitter.com profile] kalakirya and [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins for creating a notable portion of the lovely covers you see below for various participants
  • Everyone who has said encouraging things to me over twitter for the past two days as I battled with upload speeds and broken code and sleep deprivation! I know you've all been very impatient for this list, and I'm sorry it's two days late.

Now, before I let you loose and you go on a podfic downloading orgy, don't forget that Auralphonic's January episode is entirely about #ITPE recs, so be sure to tell them what your faves are from the list below!

Alright, I know what you're really here for. Enough of my talking. ONTO THE GOOD STUFF...

aka everyone's favorite annual podfic gift exchange run entirely over twitter with no limits, no rules yeah there are some rules ngl, but mostly just squee (new and improved(?) this year: run entirely on mod tears! \o/)

(If you'd like to see previous years' master lists, 2011 is here and 2012 is here.)

Ahaha. Hahahahahaha. Okay dudes, you're gonna have to allow me a moment of modly...uh, ranting. Sort of.

You guys. The original draft of this paragraph said, somewhat facetiously, "Fuck yes we work hard on this. This year we did it through fucking chronic migraines, viral pneumonia, a month of involuntary couchsurfing, and various personal crises." And [personal profile] cantarina emailed that to me the week BEFORE we encountered, between us: a family death, a several-days long electrical blackout, and a broken modem which removed all home internet access (and PS, it's still not back). Not to MENTION AO3 bugs, broken Python code, and new Twitter DM restrictions.

(Actually, I'm lying to you. The original draft of the above paragraph originally said "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA #killme #bitchesbetterappreciate".)

BASICALLY: your mods have had A Month. Or a few Months. Whatever.

But you know what? If y'all will allow me to get sappy for a minute, you motherfuckers make all the work we do on this in the face of such adversity WORTH IT. Every year when Ca'rina and I get on Skype and talk to each other while we distribute gifts, and watch the squee pour in over our twitter feeds, we always say to each other, "jesus, THIS is why we do this, it makes it all worth it, wow." Because it does. So thank you thank you THANK YOU for being amazing, all of you, you literally give us the energy to continue to do this <3

On a less sappy/whiny/terrible note, SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CHALLENGE THIS YEAR FOR US WERE:
  • HOLY CRAP OUR BIGGEST YEAR YET, over 50 participants!!! (Bess’ single-minded goal and you’re all great for helping her meet it <3)
  • [twitter.com profile] lattice_frames & [twitter.com profile] sendreinfrcmnts podding the exact same fic for each other
  • putting [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins SMACK in the middle of the "Hockey Loop" when pairing people, which she probably didn't know about until just now, and is probably now cursing Bess furiously ;) (#IllGetYouMyPretty)
  • speaking of [twitter.com profile] reenajenkins, she utterly OBLITERATED any previous records we had for longest/most podfic submitted, turning in a whopping fifteen hours, forty minutes, and thirty-two seconds of podfic for her main gift, and that's not counting extra treats (robot ROBOT SHE'S A PODFIC ROBOT is2g)

And EXTRA SUPER SPECIAL THANKS GO OUT TO:
  • [twitter.com profile] alexwlchan for creating (and debugging!) the script we use for coding, and also [twitter.com profile] stopthatimp for additional debugging/assistance
  • [twitter.com profile] opalsong & [twitter.com profile] sapphirescribe for being incredible pinch-hitters
  • [twitter.com profile] anna_unfolding for her awesome treat-making, despite not having been a formal part of the exchange
  • [twitter.com profile] akamine_chan for generously offering to do cover art for many many people--much of the lovely art you see below was done by her :)
  • [twitter.com profile] fleurrochard & [twitter.com profile] pattyisnickname for some last-minute podbook compiling #rockstars

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, I'll stop rambling, I know what y'all are here for. Without further ado.....

Well kids, it's been a year. Our little challenge is All Grown Up! (Though not without some growing pains!) We added Dear Podficcer letters and treats, we had a much bigger sign-up list, and [personal profile] paraka did NOT try to pinch-hit her own gift, but DID get excited about her gift from me...which was NOT actually from me and was, in fact, from [personal profile] reena_jenkins. (It’s a lot less complicated than it sounds, but where’s the fun explaining the joke? WE LOVE YOU LINDSAY)

BUT DESPITE THE ROUGH PATCHES, WE ALL GOT THROUGH IT! And amazingly enough, with only one pinch-hitter! (We <3 you [personal profile] analise010 YOU ROCK!)

So enough of this chit-chat, I know why you're all really here--THE AWESOME AMOUNTS OF GREAT NEW PODFIC \o/ Let's get to it.

(NOTE: all download links are currently direct download links from the Archive. I’ll be going through and making pages for everything and swapping the direct links out for links to their respective archive pages, but THERE ARE A LOT OF PODFICS HERE, so bear with me and be patient <3)

THAT'S IT YOU GUYS! We're going to make even more changes for next time based on this year's experience, so if you have any feedback, let us know in the comments! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

[personal profile] bessyboo
The idea for this exchange evolved over a Twitter conversation involving several podficcers. When the dust had settled, the rules were thus:

1) Everything would be done via Twitter, from sign-ups to gift distribution
2) No minimum podfic or word length (hence, the “informal”)
3) What happens in the exchange stays in the exchange.

Pretty simple really. That was the point. (The moderators would like to thank all of the participants for helping to keep it that way too. Everyone responded to check-ins, no one was late, and we needed no pinch-hits. Even if [personal profile] paraka did volunteer, if unknowingly, to pinch-hit her own gift.)

Without further ado, onto the masterlist of LOVELY PODFIC GIFTS!

Click for gifts! )

As people come home from vacation and post their podfics to their journals, we'll edit in reader post links instead of the direct download links. If we're missing any, drop us a comment and we'll fix it!

That's it! If anyone has any feedback, or thoughts, or really anything at all to say (ideas for next year? MAYBE?), let us know in the comments!
