Welcome to the second annual podfic love meme! Last year cantarina created a love meme for all contributors to the podfic community. "Contributors" could include, but is not limited to: podficcers, audiofic archivists and other infrastructure people, mods, meta writers, cover artists, and betas/cheerleaders. Shout out to yue_ix for allowing us to use the art below once again.



Some information to start -

1) Comment with your name if you want to be loved. Leave a short bio, links to your social media handles, links to what it is that you do in the community, and other fannish info you think is important.

2) Tell us what you want love for. Do you create amazing cover art? Do you love modding challenges? Are you the most meticulous beta listener? Share your skills and help us make this as good an experience for you as possible.

3) Let us know if it's okay to befriend you. With bios and other info out there, it may be confusing to know how much attention is welcome. If you're open to adding new friends, include that somewhere in your comment.

Last year there were a few posts that were not very loving, so remember: BE GOOD TO EACH OTHER. THIS IS A LOVE MEME*.

We often cross over on slightly more obscure things, which makes me appreciate your podfic all the more (hello Vorkosigan Saga, femslash, Young Wizards, and so many other things!) Your narration is so soft and dreamy and then sometimes you just flip that on its head to be loud and abrasive when you need it, sometimes from sentence to sentence, and I admire that ability to shift tone so quickly so much.

The don't Blame The Gorilla Job was a formative experience in those characters for me, and even now the sound of you voicing them makes me feel nostalgic for the first time I heard it.

Thank you so much for all the work you've put into ALPA and pod_together! I've spend so many hours in the various anthologies, used them as a resource to find BP authors. Pod_together has been one of the most enjoyable and creatively challenging, uh, challenges that I've participated in, and the fanworks that come out of it are always so varied and incredible, I'm so glad that it exists.

(I've never dived into your catalog before, but I've just bookmarked a dozen to listen to and I'm so excited about them!)

You make *such* gorgeous cover art! I've been so lucky to have your work on projects of mine for ITPE in past years. It's a gift to me as much as it is to the recipient because it looks so good. You have great visual style and do a wonderful job of suiting cover art to the mood of a piece too. You are an inspiration to me in my figuring-out-cover-art journey.

Running podfic_love is such a lovely gift to the rest of us, I've enjoyed podfic_love as a casual viewer, noting down recs and enjoying podfics I missed when I see recs for them from people whose taste I know and love. It provides a wonderful opportunity for us all to share a little bit more about podfic fandom and the things that work for each of us and what we love. Writing recs and thinking of what recs to write is also a lot of fun and an interesting challenge, so it's great from both sides of the experience. Thank you for helping make it possible for all of us!

It's funny, I see your nick on my screen and I can immediately hear your voice even though it's probably years since I listened to your MCU fics. It's that distinct and iconic to me. I've probably listened to 'To be modified as necessary' 20+ times.

I hope this will count as giving love, but: I love your voice even though I'm not super fond of German accents. (I'm German myself and my own always bothers me.) However, thanks to you and the great work you've done (An Interesting Trip by ShanaStoryteller which you recorded with Rhea is forever my favourite and I listen to it ALL THE TIME), I'm starting to not quite love, but definitely accept my accent in podfic more. So, thank you for allowing me to love myself some more. This is what representation can do :)

Hey, I'm momo here on DW, and momotastic or momotastic 27almost everywhere else. You're free to follow me anywhere you like but I cannot promise to follow back because I tend to keep my feeds as small as possible and only rarely follow new people (sorry!).

As far as podfic fandom goes, I podfic and I also make covers for other people sometimes (and almost always for myself).

Adjacent to podfic fandom but not directly involved: I write*, I (co-)mod challenges sometimes where podfic production or recommendation is highly encouraged, and I co-host/edit a podcast for Merlin fandom where we end up recommending/mentioning podfics almost every episode because both my co-host and I basically only consume fanfic through podfic these days xD.

I'll take any love you want to give but my voice and my natural accent** are the things about which I'm the most insecure. I'm also not super prolific, nor very multi-fannish so there's not much from my catalogue to pick from, I'm afraid.

*I have blanket permission for podficcers.
**I know that my fake accents are basically all terrible, so that's not something I need you to try to be nice about xD

I loved all three of the hockey pods you made for this ITPE!! my comment backlog is awful though, so I haven't put that in words on AO3 yet, but they were great! I found your voice and accent super easy to listen to and, personally, I enjoy having more non-native accents in podfic as a whole <3. We don't have a huge fandom overlap, but I am becoming more multifannish all the time, and podfic is my favourite gateway drug. I might hit you up for recs from your catalog soon...

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad you posted here! I discovered your voice recently, and your recordings are already some of my favourites. (I'm getting through them slowly, because I listen slowly in the first place, and also I've gone off to reread the relevant Ursula LeGuin books before I do listen.) I find your voice so expressive and easy to listen to, and the podfic that I'm familiar with already are firmly on my comfort listen circuit.

I've told you on AO3 recently that I enjoy your work very much, and I want to repeat this hear. Your voice is lovely, and I first listened to podfic by you through the Mudgrave anthology for FMA. It was super intense and drew me right in, and even though I probably won't listen to it again for personal reasons to do with the themes of the stories, I have good memories of your performance of that series.

I'm frecklebomb or frecklebombfic everywhere - AO3, twitter (locked but happy to add fannish folks), dreamwidth, tumblr (very quiet). I infrequently use the podficcer Discord, but I am open to messages there!

All my podfic are on the archive at frecklebombfic. I'm very interested in collaborations and multivoice podfic, and recruiting new podficcers via multivoice. My fascination with nature and atmospheric SFX has lasted long enough to be adopted as a brand by now.
Fandom-wise Hockey RPF has released its chokehold on me, and my fannish horizons are broadening via collaborations and multivoice, and also as I'm finding other people who enjoy the teeny tiny book fandoms I love (Dragaera, The Scar, I have hopes for Annihilation trilogy now that the film is out).

I'm also one of the mods for the Europodfriends meetup, which is in October this year (we are just in the organisation stages of the very first one.)

I'm very open to podfic-collab-based friendships! I've participated in edit exchanges in the past, and I'm keen to do that again. I'm always happy to volunteer to beta your podfic, participate in your large multivoice project, or just cheerlead you!

I'm most active on tumblr but my dash is very full so I don't tend to follow back, but you are ALWAYS free to message me there. I am super chatty and love talking to people. I'm more likely to follow back on twitter, but I go through spurts of being super active and then barely keeping up with my twitter feed.

I'm in a bit of a podfic dry spell, mainly due to RL taking up more of my emotional bandwidth, not feeling super fannish about the new Critical Role campaign, and also my new hyperfixation with the Overwatch League (idk why I'm so Emotional about nerds playing video games, but here I am), so I'm hoping some love for my work will ~inspire~ me creatively.

You are my favorite pod person. So much fun to work with, every time I get to write for your voice I am always thrilled with the results. I’m equally thrilled about the process of putting the things together. You are the nicest. I’m also amazed at how well you make your voice suit the different characters. Your interpretation of my Lex, in Kodachrome, for instance, has the perfect cool and sardonic yet adoring (of Clark, anyway) tone vs Clark’s earnestness and warmth, uncertainty and youthful innocence. Doing Filk with you is such a blast. It’s always fun to think about what show tunes are calling me to adapt for fandom. You are mind-bogglingly prolific. I’m astounded at how much incredible work you put out.

I mostly podfic and cover art for my own stuff wrt podfic, and dabble in other creative areas (I made this icon, for example). I try to update the fanlore Blanket Permission to Podfic list whenever I notice a gap, and my more recent pinboard bookmarks all have information about the creator blanket statements. Currently I am also organising an EU podfic meetup together with frecklebombfic for later this year!

I am always thirsty for feedback on my podfic and covers, but I would love any love for anything I do, even podfic-unrelated.
