[livejournal.com profile] elemgi - Amplirecathon 2011: A Round Dozen Of My Comfort Podfics

(Or, The Wierdness That Is My Mind Loves Repeating Tropes & Happy Endings)
Comfort podfics are for those times I need to turn off my mind with favorite loves. Or, they are for those times I am in a specific mood and crave a particular trope in a particular fandom. I am, as with so many other areas of life, very wide ranging in my appreciations. :)
To comfort podfics, and what bears repeating )

(Sigh-mods have pity- I swear I almost had this corrected to be able to post on the appointed day. I am a lurker of the first water, and this represents my first posting to a community and the first attempt at the very basic html required. I am accomplished!! I am also--late)

Fantastic Podfics From Underrepresented Fandoms (plus: No knowledge of canon needed!)

The title pretty much explains it all: small-fandom!podfics that can be enjoyed with little to no canon knowledge. :>

Readers I Can Listen To For Hours On End

In order to make this list manageable (otherwise it'd be huge!) and not have any overlap with the list above, I've only included readers that have at least one recording that is over 4 hours long, and I've also tried to keep the fandoms diverse.

Sorry for the lateness of my post! My podfic-partner-in-crime dropped by (I'm certain it's because she wanted a sneak preview of my rec list) and interrupted my ~progress. ;) Happy listening, everyone! \o/

Whew-- I could add more, and more, and more recs, but I won't- to retire from the posting fray
somewhat victorious- and definitely late.

Favourite New Readers of 2010, Part 1

I don't remember how this theme came about, although I can say that when I sat down to start compiling this list, there were several names I put on it right away, the readers I knew through shared fantoms. While poking around the archive afterward, though, I discovered a whole slew of amazing readers I might otherwise never have heard and I'd really encourage you to give some of these awesome, awesome creators a try, even if you don't know the fandoms they read in.

It's also worth noting that I defined "first reading in 2010" by the submission date of the first story on a reader's page at the Audiofic Archive (if only for the sake of not over-complicating my life with the need to research) so it's possible that one or two of these readers actually recorded for the first time in 2009 or earlier. Also, this is also only Part 1, so you can expect another post of at least thing length on this topic before Amplirecathon 2011 is done \o/

There isn't a lot of X-Files audiofic out there (and I haven't even listened to all that does exist), but a couple of newer authors in the fandom have produced short (under 20 min) recordings of their own stories that are well worth a listen or twenty.
