Amplirecathon: due South and C6D
Feb. 1st, 2010 11:37 pmSo, here's the deal...
I love podfics, but I'm really bad at remembering to go back and thank the podficcers. I rarely remember to tell them how much I appreciate their hard work, their dedication, their skills and talents. I usually forget to go back and tell the readers how they've made me giggle while I'm working out at the gym, or smile secretly at some sexy bit of story. I never think to mention how sometimes I get teary-eyed while grocery shopping, listening to the voices in my ear.
And I should. I should tell the readers, these artists, how their works move me, makes me happy and sad, engages my thoughts and my emotions, brings the characters and their stories further into life. Gives them a voice, lets them shout from the rooftops, lets them sing their songs, love, laugh, mourn.
There's something magical about that and it always amazes me.
I wanted to do something to hightlight the sheer number of different readers in the C6D fandoms. There's a lot of them, but I picked one podfic from each of them. I tried to pick my favorite podfic for each reader, but sometimes I chose a different one for variety. A few of the podfic have been previously recced, a few of them are rarities, ones not stored at the Audiofic Archive, a few are from one-shot readers. Most are from due South, a couple are from Wilby Wonderful, Hard Core Logo, or Slings & Arrows, a couple are from rarer fandoms.
Every one of these is worth a listen.
Each reader has their own voice, with their own unique way of reading the stories, their differing methods of interpreting the characters. They all are articulate and expressive, well versed with tone and intonation and pacing.
These podficcers are amazing, every one of them, and they deserve praise and recognition for all that they do. They deserve to be heard. Listen to their stories.
