There isn't a lot of X-Files audiofic out there (and I haven't even listened to all that does exist), but a couple of newer authors in the fandom have produced short (under 20 min) recordings of their own stories that are well worth a listen or twenty.

audiofic read by the author

I already loved these stories, but listening to their authors read them adds another layer of enjoyment; it's like hearing a little meta-commentary on the text every time I listen.

Where the Currents Lead | written and read by [personal profile] juniperphoenix
The X-Files | Mulder | download link(s)

This is stream-of-consciousness fic that seems to flow effortlessly, and [personal profile] juniperphoenix reads with a kind of wry awareness that is perfect for Mulder.

Out of the Forest | written and read by [personal profile] tree
The X-Files | Mulder/Scully | download link(s)

[personal profile] tree is soft-spoken and articulate, and she does a great job alternating between a playful tone (her quiet glee is apparent) and a sexy one, as indicated by the story.

Ghosts | written by torch | read by [personal profile] podcath
The X-Files | Mulder/Krycek | download link(s)

I confess that I have not actually finished this. Hence the instant-ness of the rec. In my defense: it's over nine hours long, it's the kind of thing you want to make last, and my posting day is today. Not in my defense: [personal profile] podcath's reading is excellent. Her voice is clear and almost lulling, and she's good at altering her tone to suit each character. I'm especially enjoying her arch Krycek, but the whole thing is moreish.
