Title: High Tide
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fresne
Reader: [livejournal.com profile] luzula
Fandom: Inuit mythology, gen
Rating: PG-13
Format: mp3, 128 kbps
Length: 9 m 46 s
Author's summary: Sedna lay face up to the falling snow. She looked up with eyes that never closed. A crab scuttled across a wide eye, but she did not blink. She had lost that trick.
Reader's notes: A retelling of the story of Sedna. This is potentially confusing as a podfic, because these three things are interwoven: 1) Sedna lying on the bottom of the sea 2) Sedna telling a story and 3) little bits of poetry. I tried to differentiate between these bits, but I might not have succeeded, so I thought I should tell you in advance. Thanks to the author for letting me record it.

Respect, esteem, and confidence had vanished for ever; and all his views of domestic happiness were overthrown." P&P Chapter XIX of Volume II

Thanks so much! :D

First: much thanks for letting me know you recorded my story! It's very curious to hear your own words spoken by someone else. (Also, I feel like I should apologize for the awkwardness of that loooong phrase at the beginning. >_< You weathered awesomely, though!)

I heard mine and 's L&B story. With both, I really like how you do the dialogue, like at the beginning of the L&B story, and Mr. Bennet's tone. (Dialogue is like the most important thing for me, both in reading and in writing--tone and rhythm can change so much!)

Thanks again for doing this! I've never heard one of my stories read out before, and it's an interesting experience; thanks for giving me the chance to have it. I love the calm grace of your reading, as well as the understated but effective way in which you handle the dialogue (and how you do the bit with the syllables, too!).

I was pretty thrilled by it. :)

And no, I'm Singaporean (in the UK for university, as it happens), but I have an unfortunate love for Kent - hence the lyric-quoting. I have a limited knowledge of Swedish grammar and a tiny vocabulary, mainly derived from Kent songs and my few visits to Sweden. ^_^;;
