Author's summary: A little girl who missed the sun suffered a terrible act of cruelty. This is what happened to Margot, after.
Notes: Recently in my area we had what felt like about a month of unremitting rain, which reminded me of this story. When I first read it in January, I was struck not only by my own reaction but by the outpouring of comments from readers who were moved by it in the same way that I was. It's an incredibly powerful coda to a story that has haunted me — and, it seems, many other fans — since childhood.
