also!!! competition for the supersampler award has just really heated up, with one participant introducing seven new fandoms, one eight, and one NINE! this looks like the award where the action is this year, i'm just saying.

hey everybody in podficland! this is the FINAL WEEK of amplificathon, and you know what that means, right?

well, mostly it's a remark on the linear nature of time, or at least, the linear nature of our perception of time.

BUT. in this particular context, it means that if you haven't posted in the fest yet this year, and you post now, you are going to win the fashionably late award!

it also means that for those of you who like to ~~strategize, there are a few other awards still within reach:

- there is currently no one in the running for the ampliplanet award. /meaningful look at highly international group of podficcers.

- it means if you're angling to win the blipvert award, 9 seconds is the time to beat. OR IS IT UNBEATABLE?

- it means that the top four podficcers in the points standings could change position if one of them manages 500 more points (this is possible if they planned ahead! or found something longish in an esoteric fandom written in a non-english language. or something. reena_jenkins, litra, and fresne may LOOK unstoppable, but they're human, right? ...right?

- it means the supersampler award could be sniped at any point up to the end of the fest. currently one participant has introduced three four new fandoms, five have introduced two, and three have introduced one. ANY ONE OF THEM COULD WIN. or, if you're crafty, you could win! even if you start right now.

- it means that i'm pretty sure the lindworm award is going to a podfic that clocks in at 8:47:36 right now. but i wouldn't be shocked if one of you posted something even longer and snatched away the glory for yourself.

- it means i have no clue who is in the running for the whisky & lemon award, though i could make an educated guess. that ship may have sailed. but podficcers are all amazing, so i am also ready to be surprised. <3

- and of course, as usual, the ampliplanet GMT -11 winner will be a mystery until the dust settles.

Hi Amplificathon! It is were_duck popping in with your latest rankings for the Amplificathon '14 challenge!

Not to alarm you, but just to prepare you--we're in the homestretch. Two weeks remains in this year's challenge--you have until the end of April 30th (so long as it is April 30th somewhere in the world) to post podfic for the challenge.

We do have some high-achieving pointsters this round, but remember--by posting podfic and claiming points during the challenge, you are entered for fun awards for a variety of other things, too, including mod's discretion.

Without further ado, here are the standings!

as soon as it's march 15th anywhere in the world you can start posting your amplificathon 2014 podfics! to find out what time that is for you, here's the event at time and date and also a handy count down clock.

because the starting time is 4 and 5am for your mods (and we enjoy sleeping), don't wait for a post from us to open the gates. just go right ahead and start posting your podfics as soon as the time rolls around!

we liked the way the points worked last year so we're pretty much keeping things the same! please read each section, and if you have any questions please ask us in the comments.


please figure your points and put the point value(s) on the post where you announce your recording(s). please present your points for fandom, pairing, bonus earnings and length for each podfic, then at the bottom of the entry include the total points for all podfics in your post (for easier mod tracking). the numbers will be added up and posted throughout the challenge.

a) fandom points:
- giant fandoms - 1 point (spn & spn rpf; stargate atlantis; merlin; harry potter; avengers movie; my chemical romance; teen wolf; sherlock)
- represented fandoms - 5 points awarded - any fandom that was represented in the archive as of march 9, 2014
- unrepresented fandoms - 10 points awarded

b) relationship points (gen or any romantic groupings):
- giant relationships - 1 point awarded (rodney mckay/john sheppard; dean winchester/sam winchester; jensen ackles/jared padalecki; derek hale/stiles stilinksi; merlin/arthur pendragon; sherlock holmes/john watson; castiel/dean winchester)
- represented relationships - 5 points awarded - any relationship (or gen) that was represented in the archive as of march 9, 2014

- non-english language bonus: 10 pts
- new podficcer bonus: 10 pts for each podfic done for the fest (applies if your first ever podfic is posted during amplificathon)

Hello all,

Your Podbang mods would like to let you know that unfortunately we're not planning on running Podbang this year. However, we do hope to bring it back for 2014/2015!

If you'd still like to participate in a podfic exchange, the Informal Twitter Podfic Exchange (ITPE) will be starting soon, which you can find out more about via ITPE_mod.

And if recording extremely long podfic is your thing, sign ups are still open at Extreme Big Bang until October 13th!
