okay, yeah. i didn't compile this one, but received it pre-made. as soon as i can, i'll trash it and create a new one from scratch -- it saves the cover and metadata, but trashes it all as soon as the file is closed. :(

don't worry about it! it was very mysterious, though -- i still can figure out why it would look like it was taking the cover, then lose it. i couldn't find a reason! everything looked right. can i ask what software you used? i'm curious if there's a setting somewhere that was locking the metadata...

I created it by making an "m4a" file, and renaming it to m4b. I had read somewhere that that worked, and when it seemed to take the info, I thought I was set. I'm sure the problem had to do with it not being a 'real' m4b, but it's weird that iTunes would handle it properly in all other respects.

(I'd previously tried to use the freeware app that's mentioned in some podfic_tips posts, but that one gave me weird sound output, so the m4a method was actually an attempt to FIX that problem. Back to the drawing board for me. ^_^)

i wondered if maybe you did it that way! i have never heard of anyone having a hard time with that before, though, either.

i use a mac app that i paid for, but it was cheap. hmmm. it seems like even if you make it the m4a way that there ought to be a way to make it work. some switch is left unswitched! we just need to find it.

I just finished this and I think you have a fantastic voice for podfic. I can't remember if I've listened to anything else from you before, so it's possible I'm repeating myself:) I love the effect you used for phone calls/radio transmission, it worked really well.

Credit for the radio effect goes to podfic_lover. She suggested it and pointed me at the proper Audacity filters. I'm glad it didn't turn out distracting. :)
