Hi! Would you like me to compile a podbook for you? This just adds a cover, makes it automatically bookmarkable, and, for those with iTunes, moves it out of the Music folder and into a separate Audiobooks folder where it won't be seen or heard when browsing or listening to songs. It also then automatically shows up in an Audiobooks playlist on an iPod.

If so, which image would you like as a cover? Or would you like to make a new one?

Duh, I didn't notice that in the post and haven't downloaded yet. Internet access issues this morning.

Great, though! Less work, more listening!

I just got back to look at the downloaded files, and all I found were three m4a files, not m4bs (audiobooks). These do not file in iTunes Audiobook folder, but in Music, and they are not automatically bookmarked.

Did you encode m4b's as well? That takes a separate program as GarageBand does not save as audiobooks.

Hmmm. I think if you manually change the .m4a to .m4b that might do it. At least, I seem to remember reading that somewhere online once upon a time...

Duh, I just read your comment again and see what may have happened. The Audiobook tab in iTunes would not move the files to the actual Audiobook playlist in iTunes (it leaves them showing under Music), but it would allow them to sort into an Audiobook Smart Playlist using the term as an indicator.

Does that make sense? Unlike with m4a's, m4b's don't show up under Music at all and don't play when you shuffle music (along with the auto bookmarking thing).

It's also a good idea to export as mp3's (as well as m4a's) as some players won't play any other format. In order to archive podfics that are just uploaded as m4a's, [livejournal.com profile] general_jinjur has to also convert them to mp3s for those who need that format.

:-)

I just realized I didn't respond to this correctly first time around.

What you did works, but only on your own computer. The setting doesn't transfer with the file. Hope that makes more sense to you. :-)

I'm so glad you posted this here so that everyone can share in the awesome. And thank you for adding so much great music to this too. I can't listen to "Come to Jesus" at all without bawling like a baby, damn you.

This was an amazing production. Usually I don't care for music and sound effects in podfic because they generally overwhelm the reader's voice. That was not the case here. The music was well-chosen and the occasional sound effects merely served to enhance the experience. Thank you for showing us all how it should be done!

This was startlingly good, and your production values are excellent, art delightful, and I really liked the way you read it. I've done a little podfic too, but it's hard to read the way you do, so I'm impressed.
