Podfic Appreciation Fest 2021

This year began with a LOT of fests posting! ITPE, Awesome Ladies XI, Podfic Big Bang, Out of the Auditary, and more.

We’ve all been creating. Now, it’s time for appreciating.

Podfic Appreciation Fest is a podfic fandom event to encourage you to leave feedback on amazing podfics. Encourage you...with points!

Podfic Appreciation Fest begins on April 1st, 12:00am UTC, but before then, I need something from all of you: your podfics.

Every podficcer (whether participating in the fest or not) is allowed to submit five (5) podfics that they would love to receive a lot of feedback. A Most Wanted list. These podfics will be compiled into a spreadsheet and made available at the start of Podfic Appreciation Fest. Leave feedback on these podfics and watch your points soar! (And, as a bonus for commenters, podfics on the Most Wanted list will be tallied with their comment total as of the START of Podfic Appreciation Fest, instead of after all the comments come pouring in. More on the point system below.)

How to get points: Leave comments, make cover art, or make a rec list

(Note: there may be slight tweaking before final rules are posted)

Comments points calculation: (Most-wanted modifier, 1 or 2)x(length of comment points+number of comments points)

Base points for length of comment

• 25-50 words: 1 point

• 51-100 words: 2 points

• 101+ words: 4 points

Base points for number of comments already on fic

• No comments: 5 points

• 1-5 comments: 3 points

• 6-15 comments: 2 points

• 16+ comments: 1 point

Most Wanted comments

• Submit 5 or fewer podfics you would love feedback on

• 2x points, base points for number of comments calculated as of start of fest, not after the influx

Making cover art

• Doesn’t have cover art yet: 3 points

• Already has cover art: 1 points

• Must get permission!

Rec posts

• 1 extra point for every fic recced, HOWEVER

  • Rec must be at least 20 words per podfic, not just a list of podfics

  • You must tell the person you recced that you’ve done so, so they can enjoy your rec

  • You must also have left a comment on the original podfic

This looks fun! Will definitely be taking part.

Inspired by discussion on the Podfichat Discord, would you be open to allowing podficcers to opt-out of receiving comments as part of this fest? It seems like a good solution for those who may be uncomfortable receiving fest-inspired comments or want to take part in the fun without putting themselves or their works in the spotlight.

Also, for added inspiration, will there be an goal point amount? I'd love to have something to work towards.

Just to be clear, is this being held via Amplificathon and the spreadsheets? Or is there a necessary other comm/Twitter/Discord component?

Hey! This post mentions that we can start requesting points tracking spreadsheets from 28 March. Is this something we do here, on Discord, somewhere else? I'm excited to get started! Thank you :-)

The spreadsheet is ready, except there's some confusion on someone both opting out of comments and submitting podfics to the Most Wanted list. I'm waiting for clarification, then I'll post.
