I apologise for asking here, but this is the most active comm I've found to date and I figured I'd get at least a couple of responses.

So, I haven't recorded podfic for about 7 years and even though my first attempts back in the day were absolutely disastrous, they were still something I'm proud of and also, I can do so much better now.

I'm not particularly up to date, though, so I'm wondering where should I look for podfic betas for longfics? I have a 130k Shadowhunters fic I fell in love with and am determined to finish — especially since the author gave me an incredibly delightful response and I don't think I've ever seen such enthusiasm in my life.

I am, however, still trying to figure out my new getup and while my makeshift mini-soundbooth sounds lovely, I don't exactly have the ear to figure out which mic/setting sounds the best. I desperately need someone to yell at me... and check the end results of all 18 chapters. Should I look for other podficcers (which — still not sure where the right place to ask is??) or should I go for someone in the fandom? What do you lads do? Do I even need a beta for something this long or am I just being paranoid about my own abilities?

Hi, I've never been a podfic beta before but I'm really curious to try.
I talked to the people over on the discord server and they said I should just ask you what you are looking for. I can't really help with the mic set-up but if you want someone to listen to the long podfic, I might be able to help?

I'm mostly looking for someone to tell me if there's bad editing (as in stuff said multiple times or like it's really grating to eardrums and whatnot), if there's wrong pronunciation and if I'm getting the emotion across properly.

I haven't done much recording yet, because somehow people keep building outside, but if you're interested in listening (and maybe telling me to get on with it :'D) I'd be very grateful. <3

Sounds fun. Maybe we can make a beta-ing group! I am starting on a new project, and I found podfic betas extremely useful.
