So, I’ve been doing this podfic thing since 2010, and I’ve learned a lot of stuff: how to move your face away from the mic if you’re getting plosive feedback, how to pronounce ‘clitoris’, how to compress your file size without sacrificing (too much) audio quality, how to slap text over some faces and call it coverart. One thing that took me ages to learn, however, was to BACK UP YOUR PODFIC FILES.

I learned this the hard way - first, when megaupload went down, and then when the audiofic archive went down. Apparently there was a 9-month period in 2012 where I didn’t save a single file to my external harddrive, either. I don’t even know.

ANYWAY.

Of the approximately 1707 podfics I’ve posted publicly in the last 9.5 years, I am missing copies of 54 of them. Here’s the list:

I did a quick search, and I found a copy of Linger; it's possible I have a few of the others on an external hard drive, I'll have a look later and let you know. :)

(Also, a suggestion: it might help if you add fandoms to the spreadsheet? Some of them are guessable by the title, but others I'm not sure, and I think it would be easier to search for the files if that was narrowed down. Although maybe others don't sort their podfics by fandom and I'm the odd one out, so to most people it wouldn't make a difference...)

(I mostly only sort my podfics by fandom in that the file name itself has a fandom acronym included. My spreadsheet game is not actually all that well-developed; there are so many more categories I could be tracking, aside from fic links and podfic duration. Maybe a well-developed spreadsheet can be my 20-year anniversary goal.....)

I'm glad you've recovered so many in so short an amount of time! We podficcers might have some packrat tendencies. Maybe. :p

(Are you kidding??? I have, like, 70 of your podfics! And those are just the ones I've kept because I loved them so much and knew I'd relisten over and over. Endearment is one that I always relisten to when I'm on an NCIS kick.

But hey it makes us even because every time I gat a kudos or comment from you, I definitely react with, "REENA_JENKINS LIKES MY PODFICS!!!" So: mutual squeeing. <3 )
