What hosting sites do you use for your podfic?

I used sendspace but they only leave the files up for 30 Days (unless you get a premium account.)

I want to upload MP3s for download.

box.com works well for me! It's free, there's a lot of hosting space and you can both download and stream from it.

I pretty much 100% use archive.org at this point. No ads, allows you to embed a streaming player on ao3 if you want or just direct link to the mp3. The main downside to that one is the Internet Archive is searchable so conceivably someone could come to your podfic by searching the archive rather than ao3. For me, the ease of use and the amount of trust I have that the site will not just disappear one day (they run things like the Wayback Machine, pretty dedicated to keeping things available) is the most important.

Mediafire was my choice before this, and is still good in terms of the hosting for downloads and streaming from the mediafire site (but not embedding to ao3) There's an 11 GB limit on free accounts, but I am not even close yet, and there's not time limit. I got fed up with the ads when I accessed other people's podfic from it and wanted to set up the streaming but it's still a pretty reliable option.

I currently mainly use dropbox, because I have a 2 terabyte subscription to it. However, I have previously used Google drive, and we'll be switching back to Google drive in the next month or so.

if you just want free accounts, Dropbox gives you 2 gigabytes of free storage, whereas Google drive gives you 15 gigabytes of free storage, but the 15 GB also includes your Google photos and your Gmail account.

However, if you have a pixel phone, Google does have some storage deals.

Hi! I now store my cover art on archive.org for embedding to ao3 but haven't figured out how to attach it to the file yet, which I admit is annoying. BUT I made this little tutorial for some friends that includes how to embed the streaming player (and a weird little glitch that happens with the ao3 preview but doesn't actually affect anything). Might be helpful if you/others are still interested in having that feature. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dYOX8PDiYYfuHJz4g_RjLfhaO_7-f9ES0uFqFTmpZ2s/edit?usp=sharing

ETA: ACTUALLY this reminded me that I'd been avoiding solving cover art problem and turns out it's quite simple I will update the google doc this afternoon, but either upload the cover file at the same time as the audio file OR if the audio is already up, click "edit" from the item page, select the "change files" option, and upload your cover. It should appear automatically.

I think mediafire is wonderful! I really like how it's set up for my (the uploader's) end, with lots of cool metadata and stats. And, most importantly, basically anonymity. I do wish it had fewer ads for the downloader, but oh well.

I use either Google Drive or MediaFire. Both have massive amounts of space available (I have been recording 2-5 hrs of podfics per year for at least 8 yrs now and have yet to run out of storage.)

GDrive is the more practical (for me) out of the two because I have an Android phone + my laptop uses Windows OS. But MediaFire works just as well (tho it does get a bit techty if you use any copyrighted songs or images. At least, ime.)
