Hello my lovelies - I’m BILLIONS of years out of the podficcing loop and presently rather low tech, but I’ve had a little time on my hands lately and have recorded a number of short fics in a small flurry of productivity.
And I was wondering whether perhaps four other people might be interested in collaborating on recording a short mukti-voice podfic?
It’s this piece:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17752469
Which I haven’t yet asked permission to record, I must admit, because to do it properly it needs to have a multivoice equivalent to the found texts that are spliced into the narrative - a film review, an academic text etc. (I was planning to read the narrative sections myself.)
Does anyone out there fancy collaborating? If so, name which extra section tickles your fancy, and if we can rustle up enough people (and assuming the author is cool with it) I’m happy to splice it all together.
Any takers?

Date: 2019-08-03 05:38 pm (UTC)Sorry, I did not ACTUALLY fall off the face of the earth, I swear - but it took a while to get all the recordings in, and then the past two weeks have been a bit manic, with stressful home stuff and then stressful work stuff, so it’s only the past couple of days that I’ve sat down and wrestled with my laptop to pull this all together.
I am NOT a sound engineering wizard, even slightly, so the sheer gall of me having a crack at this is either hilarious or horrifying - But I think that it works? Even if I’m sure that somebody not me could have balanced the files better?
Anyhow, I’m sharing the first draft with you all - at present it’s my voice saying everyone else’s names (and almost certainly mispronouncing things), because not everyone included a recording of their names, but I can splice that out and replace if folks who didn’t include their names want to send them? And I seem to have an ungainly 4 minutes of additional time at the end of the file which, uh, I’m sure I can figure out how to crop away. Probably.
::sweats::
BUT, technical things aside, I think it’s lovely, and I have SO enjoyed listening to your voices, you absolute rock stars. Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort with these stonking performances!
So I’m sharing that file here, to see if you’re okay with me uploading it to the AO3 & here more or less as is, or if you’d like to make any changes.

Date: 2019-08-08 06:01 pm (UTC)I'd been really looking forward to listening to the finished podfic though and I have to say I was not disappointed. You did such a good job with the character voices and there were so many moments that made me literally laugh out loud while I was listening :D
Thanks for organising this, it was a lot of fun ^__^
