hey all! thank you so much for your patience. the audiofic archive is open again!

however, that doesn't mean we've managed to restore most of the files yet. it means that the restoration process was taking so long that it didn't make sense to keep things closed up anymore while we work, since the amazing archivists have been steadily adding new items while i tried to get my head around the old stuff. <3

right now you are going to run into a TON of 404 not found errors on the download links. i apologize for that! it is temporary in most cases, and i am optimistic that anything still missing once the backups are restored can be crowdsourced.

do you have a bunch of podfic saved locally? would you like to help our archivists out? give us a holler to let us know what you have, and we will gratefully take copies off your hands - if you have things we also have as queued backup files, there's no harm in having two copies, and if you have something we're missing, then - hooray!

If we want a place for people to dump files, I've got a dropbox with about 300GB of free space we can use for a bit. And my internet connection is pretty damn fast, so I'd be fine taking on the re-upload process.

that would be tremendously helpful! would you be willing to take charge of that process? i'm working on applying a tag to all the entries, so that we can remove it as we check them. if you are able to lead the collection-of-crowdsourced files, we'll have a good place to start for knocking entries off that list.

apparently I have 19 GB of podfic on my computer (misc Due South, various Holmeses, SGA, Star Trek, Bandom), plus I should have copies of my own stuff.

Hey, I mentioned this in kitsuneheart's recent post, but if ppl host with me, it's be pretty easy/fast for me to SSH the files over, if the files are still being hosted on linux server? I don't know if I've fallen off the list of active archivers, since I was mostly doing front end clean up? But when I tried to log in with the credentials I've always used it didn't work? So maybe I missed an update?

Anyway, if I could get shell access to the server SSH is waaaayyyyyy faster since it removes the step of downloading it locally, then uploading it to the new site, we could just transfer from one server to the other.

I've got copies of everything I've done (not all the mp4s but I'll let you know which I don't have after checking. I think that'll be easier). I'll upload them all and fix the posts for them.
