Summary: The currents of gossip flowed over the bridges and canals of Venice. Words might reach the ear of Father Moriarti from the lips of that scandalous Irena Adle, or not. They were not always speaking. Venice lived up on scandal.
Sherlott Holmia was always good for a topic as she and that Alpha of hers ran about Venice looking for sources of colours for their glassworks, or were captured by Turkish pirates while in pursuit of true blue, or were shipwrecked in pursuit of soda glass. Everyone whispered that Giovanni Vatti must be in love with Sherlott, if the number of "Amazing"s and "Fantastic"s ejaculating from his mouth at her every deed were any indication. Oh, and the scandal of her twin sister. Venice was well fed by that household. Simply delicious.

He had a picture in his head of Sherlock Holmes from his letters. Which even that pronoun was an example of how he wasn't good at deducing from the available facts. The reverse not being true...
