Reader's Notes: sooo, recently I’ve been getting some anon hate on tumblr. Now don’t get me wrong, constructive criticism is always welcome, but complaining and making rude comments about my accent? (not mispronunciations, I have no problem with anyone pointing out those) is just a waste of time. I neither can nor want to change where I was born and no one forces you to listen to my recordings anyway.
But it got me thinking. For me podficcing is first and foremost a hobby, something I do for myself. I decided to start sharing them because I thought others might enjoy listening to them as well and not because it’s my job or anything. (this is not audible and you're not paying anything. so as long as you're not the author, you aren't entitled to anything)
Up until now, I’ve posted my podfics mostly unbeta’d and perhaps I should change that. Not that I want to let the hater(s) “win” but I know me and my recordings are far from perfect and I know I’d really benefit from getting a second opinion.
In short, this is me asking you if you'd like to be my beta listener. :) You wouldn’t have to do much, just listen to my stories before I post them and tell me if I pronounce something wrong, read a sentence twice and/or say the wrong name (like, Stiles tells Stiles instead of Derek that he thinks he’s hot).

Just FYI. I Love listening to your accent. If I haven't commented before. Both my husband and I are disabled and for both of us audiobooks are a great way to pass some of the time. Our tastes are very different, though. He gets free audiobook digital tapes from a service for the blind. I have found fanfiction, and that is where most of my free material ( so almost all,(books and audiobooks are not cheap) comes from. You cannot begin to know how much I appreciate the time you take to make these recordings. Without people like you my life would be so much emptier. Because of constant neck pain, I usually can't read very long. Reading used to be a favorite hobby of mine before. So audio formats are a Godsend to me. I hope you will not let these complainers discourage you! You work is appreciated!

thank you so much for your lovely comment and kind words! in theory I know that it’s probably just one bully with to much time on their hands and that many other people enjoy my podfics and don’t mind at all, but it’s still annoying and it hurts. Especially when that's all you get and no one ever tells you the opposite. I'll be honest - it takes me time to get into a reader with an accent but ffs if you cant say something nice, shut the fuck up and go away nonnys jeez. That said once you adjust to the differences is cool. Rainbow of nations and what have you. I'm just thrilled someone podded this. I always wanted to read it and totally lack the patience to sit down and read it. YAY FIC! THANK YOU!

I totally get that! as a non-native speaker I think I know better than most how hard/annoying/distracting listening to a reader with an accent can be, but yeah ... why bother with all the hate? on the other hand, perhaps I should be proud that I'm worth so much of someone's time ;-) so thanks, you're very welcome & I hope you'll enjoy it!
