In honour of today's International Day of Femslash, here are 4 podfics that have been published so far in 2013 that I've loved to pieces, in 4 fandoms, by 4 readers, with an under-theme of collaboration.

Avengers: a perception of sweethearts passing through performed by [personal profile] analise010 & [personal profile] exmanhater (Natasha Romanov/Maria Hill, Explicit, 20 min, text written by thingswithwings; see content notes)

If you want hot kink: run, don't walk. Analise010 and Exmanhater, already being people who's podfics I find extremely pleasant to listen to, made a kinky narrative even more sensual and delicious. They make a great team: both perform in smooth, well-paced voices ready to stroke your kinks and watch you react. What's more, they pick up from one another extremely well with slick editing. These two readers also both have distinctive voices between narrator and character lines that make each exchange compelling and attention grabbing. In this, they've decided to switched up the narrator midway through, and it's amazing how well the flow is kept while it works to give the narrative quite a fun new perspective spin.

Glee/Teen Wolf crossover: Vampires Are Just Gay Werewolves performed by [personal profile] anatsuno (Brittany S. Pierce/Erica Reyes, General, 7 min, text written by Jedusaur)

You do not need to be in either of these fandoms or even familiar with them to enjoy this. This short, light-heart piece of crack is grin inducing. Anatsuno's Brittany voice is priceless. It is an ode to her talent that she managed to record this keeping character, because I sure can't listen without loosing face. This piece was made as a direct collaboration with Jedusaur, and it shows for how well voice and text work together. Wiles! Sparkling forever! If you want fun, give this a try for rainy and sunny days alike.

Star Trek TOS: two step performed by [personal profile] nickelmountain (Nyota Uhura/Gaila, General, 10 min, text written by raja815)

This is a work part of the A Peck On The Lips: KISSES 3 anthology that just came out today. It is full of beautiful works in a multitude of voices and fandoms, so I recommend that you get it all. :D This work in particular called to me because I didn't recognise this reader name, and at a glance the text seemed lovely. It turns out that Nicklmontain's voice is soft and entrancing and their taste impeccable. This works incorporates background music and it is not only perfectly chosen, but also wonderfully edited in; it appears to ebb in and out, and is present enough to support the ephemeral/hazy quality of this work, but not enough to distract from - or mask - the performance. This is a source and a text about learning and connecting, here linked by music and dancing, and I feel like this is exactly what this wonderful work brought to life in my head in a way that for me letters on screen could never. My gut reaction is that this is almost akin to poetry, or music where most notes happen to be words that aren't lyrics but aren't not.

Teen Wolf: until the moon gives you back + sequels (you, me and the moon series) performed by [personal profile] exmanhater (Laura Hale/Lydia Martin, General to Explicit, almost 2 hours in total, text written by fightingtheblankpage; see content notes)

The first rec of this series also recs exmanhater, and for good cause. She's become one of my top favourite femslash readers, for both how lovely her performances are and how much our tastes in femslash stories match. I frequently describe her voice as "smokey, potently female and mature", or use my shorthand for it: UNF. Exmanhater has a very level, powerful narrative voice, and when she gets to dialogue they shine through wonderfully. She's well timed and soothing, making every sentence feels like a seduction. I honestly rec all of [personal profile] exmanhater's ever growing collection of femslash works. In this particular podfic I love how her take on the POV brought Laura's character new depths for me and how the whole work is so calming it's now part of my "To sleep with" playlist for nights sleep alludes me, all the while feeling like a coming of age.

Hey! Thank you so much for these recs! However, when I click on "Vampires Are Just Gay Werewolves", it links me back to " a perception of sweethearts passing through." I plan on looking for the work in Audiofemme, but I wanted to let you know.

YAY, FEMMESLASH!!!! \O/

Aw, thanks for the lovely rec! *blushes* Quick note, though - your link goes to the right place, but the title the link is attached to is wrong.

Thank you so much for commenting on the music! I had really strong feelings about it while I was editing it all together, and it means so much to me to know that it had the effect I was going for.

I'm right there with you with Vampires Are Just Gay Werewolves. I love that podfic so much. I haven't listened to the others yet, but I'm really looking forward to doing so!
