hey all! at the risk of sounding greedy, because we have some great signups already (most are over on the lj version of the
amplificathon, in case anyone is feeling competitive), i want to encourage more people to jump on this, because, well, it's going to be awesome. and more participants=more awesome, in my book.
hesitating? please tell me why. i am a highly skilled enabler, ask anyone! if you are worried, i can probably set your mind at ease. if you think you could do this as a team with another reader, but you don't *know* another reader, tell me that, too, and maybe i can make a match! the podmod collective is ready to do a lot to help if it means more big giant podfics at the end of theday year, seriously.
also--you people who habitually record epics? come on! join up! :D
signups close at the end of the day on august 31. the signup post is here, and the podbang faq is here. (remember! you don't necessarily need to record a big bang story, just a story over 30,000 words, and there's no maximum word count! i can almost guarantee that whomever
general_jinjur gets matched up to record for will get something ridiculously long, because she makes ludicrous decisions based on foolish pride and overestimation of her available time/energy! YOU COULD BE THE LUCKY BENEFICIARY. ::points at everyone:: )
oh, hey, also, if someone wanted to read/request longform fic in german or french, we might also be able to accommodate that, so feel free to say so if that interests you. <3

Date: 2009-08-28 01:52 am (UTC)- would you be willing to do two stories? it's probably best that your first will be slightly shorter, anyway, and 20k words is a good size for an ambitious newcomer. the rules say you can make up the difference with any story of at least 8k words, and 8k words is actually the length i recommend that people start with--that's around an hour of reading, counting flubs and headdesking, and once it's edited, you have a nice satisfying 45-50 minute recording. if you have free time, you can do that length in a day, easy.
- i can tell your voice is awesome from way over here, and i will beta for you and hold your hand throughout. if you want to do a short test podfic and send it to me privately, i can give you feedback before you start, or you can just plunge in--i have seen great successes with just plunging in! i can also help you with editing if you like, because it can be hard to get through it (SO BORING) if you haven't seen the payoff (a completed work) yet.
we can make this work!

Date: 2009-08-28 11:56 am (UTC)in fandoms where wordcount is problematic, we will consider related stories, stories by the same author, etc. we want to make this work! and, as a community, we do have plans to help people who are having a hard time finding stories.
