HolĂ ! I'm getting addicted to posting modly queries, I couldn't stay away for a whole 24 hours. Quick, somebody stage an intervention!

This time we're looking for podfic-to-order volunteers. In other words: some of our winners will be getting, as prize, a podfic made for them to their specifications; that is to say, they win the possibility of pointing to a fic and say 'I'd like a podfic of this story please!'

Once winners - contacted all in sekrit-like undercover private shh* - have given us a list of fics to record, we'll take that list to our enthusiastic volunteer readers, assign fics, pick a deadline for submission of gift-recording, etc. Seems straightforward enough, yes?

*winners will be revealed eventually! we're preparing some fun things to go with that, i swear! we're not, er, drawing the suspense out on purpose to drive you mad. promise.

But for that to happen, we need a list of volunteer gift-podficcers! Of course there's one already, with, so far, the three lovely mods *assumes sexay pin-up pose* and one other sweet participant... only.
I just thought that poking y'all could yield a few other names.

Rest assured: we'll put an upper limit on the wordcount of fics that can be requested by the winners (this mod cannot allow jinjur to start another 17hours long podfic right now, no matter how much the general might yearn for that kind of overcommitment). We don't know exactly yet what the limit will be, but there will be one.

On the other hand we're also asking that if you volunteer for this, you commit to recording at least a 1500 words fic - we'll organise the choosing when the assignments come in from our winners, so that you'll be able to refuse reading nc17 or m/m slash or this fandom or that fic because it's seriously too long and you don't have time - but we don't want anyone to raise their hand now and then back out because all possible stories are over 900 words long, say.

If by extraordinary chance we end up with more gift-recording volunteers than requests, well, um. We'll celebrate! Or. something.

Pls for to apply by commenting here with a clear 'aye pick me!' and an email address. mods will shortly be in touch to assimilate draft you in further!

now, what posting pretext could I cook for tomorrow...

so we're working hard here at podmind hivequarters to figure out winners and prizes and get it all sorted in a timely manner!

in fact, i've had to hire a sub-contractor. )

and yes, by timely i do mean that you aren't going to have to wait much longer before we start!

but right now? well, i'd like to start a rec-fest! i wish i could say i was going to kick it off, but, tragically, the only three offerings i've managed to listen to so far are the three i beta'd. and while i think those are awesome, i am also thinking i have a conflict of interest.

but! i am still very bossy full of suggestions! so. rec us one (or three! or seven!) of the amplificathon podfics! tell us what you liked about the reader's interpretation, or voice, or phrasing, or story choice! tell us your favorite, or the one that surprised you. tell us about the one that sucked you into a new fandom.

listeners, this is your chance to post! go for it!

I haven't hardly had time to listen to a lot of the podfic generated with the contest, but two brand new fandoms to me that I enjoyed were Jeeves/Wooster The Ruse to Save Jeeves written and read by [livejournal.com profile] triedunture and a magical version of Patrick O'Brian's Master and Commander world by [livejournal.com profile] astolat and read by [livejournal.com profile] leviticus_lied called Duende, found here

ETA> I goofed! I was supposed to do this in comments but got distracted and posted it instead. Sorry.
