Author Summary: John Sheppard has had over twenty years to come to grips with the fact that every four or five weeks, he turns into a mountain lion. Like most Were, he accepts that that's just the way it is, and so he's not particularly interested when he learns that researchers at the local university are trying to to develop drugs that will help Were control their cycles. Then he meets Dr. Rodney McKay, a brilliant but irascible biochemist with reasons of his own for spearheading the university's Were research and John suddenly finds himself struggling with more than just his attraction to McKay.

Reader Notes: Contains some graphic violence in the form of were-animal fighting.

SO HI HI HI I HAVE HAD THIS PODFICCER'S BLOCK FOR A WHILE HI BUT NOW I HAVE ACTUALLY PODFICCED AGAIN AND I AM HAPPY ABOUT IT :DDDDD

Ahem. This is a story of Ruth's that has been on my to-podfic list for a while. When [personal profile] luzula mentioned she was looking for werewolf stories where the primary focus is on a connection to nature or the tension between human and nature, I thought of this one (looking back on it, the primary focus seems to be on were-animal culture and the biology of the shift from human to animal, but perhaps it will still fit the bill!).

The story covers John's time in his shifted state in present tense, and I've voiced it differently than the main narration.

Even though I'm not a podfic person as a rule and there's no telling when I'll listen, I'm downloading this one because I love the story so much and I know you'd do a great job with it!

Eeeee, that's great! I'm so glad you got yourself de-blocked. \o/

And I know it's not for me, but it feels that way a little bit. See, I have not ever read an SGA story--it's part of my somewhat irrational avoidance of big fandoms. So I probably would not have read it even though you recced it and the were-stuff sounds intriguing. But now you've recorded it, and I will totally listen to it! I have a much easier time listening to podfic outside my own fandoms than reading fic.

I *loved* what you did with your voice with the transitions from man to lion. This lazy, relaxed drawl, it was perfect.

This was remarkably excellent! I listened to it as I cleared out the old raspberry canes in my yard on a hot day, and I liked particularly the cadence you used to indicate John's were form, as well as your Rodney voice. Exellent choice of story, great storytelling on your part. I was riveted. Thank you!

I completely missed this back in August - found it as I was checking all the SGA podfic on AO3. I love it! I'd read the story ages ago and had forgotten how much I liked it, and you did a great job with the reading. Especially loved how you made John's were-cougar voice all lazy and catlike - it emphasised the tense-thing Telesilla did in writing John's animal-self in an eternal present tense and the rest in past tense. I thought it worked really well. Totally engrossing - I listen in my car as I have a long commute from my place to just about anywhere. I was very keen to go to work for a couple of days there, or um, anywhere, really! This is going to be one of my favourites.
