I listened to The Hills of Iowa today and it totally ripped me apart in the very best way. I think part of it is that I grew up as a lesbian in Iowa (I have always LOVED that song), but listening to this podfic was like looking at my formative years through a rainy window. All these little sharp stabs of familiarity buried in that story. And the way you read it just made the atmosphere that much more effective for me. I actually eventually just stopped what I was doing and just sat there and listened. So thank you for that.
