I really love how their dynamic totally changes because of how gendered figure skating is as a sport! It's probably my favorite thing about this fic. I'm glad you liked it :)

See, I don't know *anything* about figure skating, except obviously I know who Johnny Weir is because *everyone* knows who Johnny Weir is. But it was kind of sad because I guess I'd figured, if you couldn't be a gay figure skater then when the hell *could* you be gay?

It is sad, but I think figure skating is even more homophobic than most sports, because the "manliness" of the sport gets mocked or teased by those outside of it, and so the leaders of the sport police everyone's gender expression even more strictly. Like you can be gay, but you can't "flaunt" it like Johnny does :( (even though he mostly, you know, just acts like himself, but apparently that's not manly enough for the USFSA!)
