Date: 2012-01-02 06:33 pm (UTC)Hey, are you attaching covers to your podbooks? They're not arriving with the files, but my OS is Mac Lion, which is still having problems with some podbook files. For instance, yours dl with a double extension (m4b.mp4) which I think is related to the PC software used to compile the 'books. I can manually eliminate the second tag and open these files fine, but doing so might be messing with the covers?

Date: 2012-01-02 11:38 pm (UTC)I'm no longer an official archiver, but that is secondary to the fact that the archive has been broken since last spring. No new entries can be made, and we've had no word on when, or even if, that is going to change. It is still possible to get permanent direct links, though. That's where I've been uploading all my new podbooks. I can do that for you if it would help.
Oh, and I've been meaning to ask: would you still like for me to podbook anything of yours that is around an hour or longer that you don't podbook yourself? Or I could just make you covers for any of them that don't have one, if you'd like.

Yikes. That would be good, I think. I have most of my stuff at Mediafire, but I'd rather have something else as a more permanent backup, as I don't keep everything on my hard drive indefinitely.

Certainly I would love it if you did that; I just didn't want to impose/overwork/stress you out about it. A lot of the longer ones I've posted recently were Big Bangs, so they already had artwork associated, and I've just been using those (with artist permission, of course). So yeah. Just let me know what you need from me, i.e., posting it here or somewhere else, sending you the file, or just advance notice, or whatever. And thank you!

Date: 2012-01-03 01:02 am (UTC)I can upload for you. Might take a while and a bit of prompting on your part every now and again, though. If you add the links to your amplificathon posts, they should be picked up for archiving if and when that starts up again.
If you want to wait for a 'book before you post new stuff, just send me the same info you'd put in your post along with a dl link for the mp3, oh, and any idea or photo reference you think might work for the cover (if you have any). Or, if you prefer, you can post your mp3 with a note to come back for the m4b when it's ready. I know a lot of readers hate to put off posting once they finish a project!
I can keep my stress and workload manageable as long as I don't overcommit any more, and I certainly want to continue to podbook as much as I'm able, so that's fine. Feel free to contact me via email at cybelh at gmail. com when you need a cover or whatever. I'm running behind right now because so many new podfics have come out the last few days, but I'll get yours done asap. I want the 'books for my own library, after all. ;-)

I think I've only got one more that's close to being ready to post any time soon, just in need of editing, but I'm pretty sure it's 3 or 4 chapters long, probably an hour apiece. I do have a list of ones I want to read, but that'll have to wait until the younguns go back to school and I'm once again free to read teh gay porn aloud. :D
