it's time! matches have been made and emails are about to go out! and your podmod is collectively surrounded with scrap paper and squinting at the screen and has done the very best job they could. which doesn't mean they might not have screwed up. so!
- if you don't get an email or message within the next 12 hours telling you your match, comment!
- if you look at your match and they are asking for no fandoms that you recall offering, and none you feel up for, reply to the email. we did our best to match you on as many fandoms as possible, but some readers only got one fandom in common. we tried in those cases to be sure it was a big fandom, so you'd have some choice.
- comment to this post with anything you like about what you enjoy (or don't enjoy) in fic, to help your reader choose something *if* they would like guidance. you already stipulated your no-fly zones, so anything you put here is optional.
- READERS! do not reply to these comments! keep your assignment SECRET OMG. feel free to ask questions anonymously, though, or to email or pm the podmod collective if you want us to ask privately.
and a note just in case! anyone who would prefer to use the dreamwidth amplificathon community should feel free. your reader will get a link to your original signup comment, so if you originally signed up on lj and would like to move, go ahead -- we'll clue them in!

Date: 2010-09-05 02:56 am (UTC)but i realize guidance can be handy. :) i don't like character bashing, and i am not a fan of angsty schmoop, though i have been known to enjoy both angst and schmoop separately. i love gen, het, slash, and multiples; in the case of stories with a pairing, i am a sucker for stories about how they got together, or even how they didn't quite manage to get together. i hate betrayal of trust where the trust involved is someone with no agency -- so abuse of children or animals freaks me right out. well-problematized betrayal between people with agency is okay. also, it happens! especially if one or more of the characters involved is, you know. evil.
okay, specifics:
in btvs, i like xander, and am good with any pairing with him in it. spike/xander is a favorite. i am also cool with any interesting spike pairing, or stuff involving anya or dawn or faith. those are my favorites! everyone else is awesome too, with the caveat that i am not a huge angel fan.
in slings & arrows and sarah connor chronicles, anything goes, seriously. (i love cleverness, and time travel, and robots, and unreliable narrators, and people performing themselves.)
there is nothing i don't love about farscape or due south, but the smart guy out of his element thing is a particular draw. also, aeryn sun and ray kowalski are both scorching, as well as really interesting characters with potentially fascinating motives.
i have been a doctor who fan since i was like 14 years old. ::counts on fingers:: that's 26 years! i love me some classic companions (not sure i *dislike* any, actually. once i would have said i didn't like peri! but i changed my mind.). i find rose less interesting, but martha, donna, amy, etc, are great. i kind of have an enduring dislike of the sixth doctor, but the rest are pretty awesome.
in sga rpf i ship flanagan/hewlett exclusively. in sga, i don't really care for sheppard with any of the expedition leaders (weir, carter, or woolsey) -- there's something there in the hierarchy that squicks me. i tend to be more interested in pairings involving mckay, but sheppard's interesting, so. i am a sucker for teyla.
fullmetal alchemist -- you can do no wrong there, i like it all.
that said, i will love anything you read. even if it's an angel/angelus epic with character bashing of buffy. (i am pretty sure i read at least one of those, once.) because i know you read something in there that you thought was worthwhile, and i know it will come through in your telling. <3

Date: 2010-09-05 03:37 pm (UTC)My interests right now lie mostly in bandom, but don't let that limit you. I am MCR-centric, but I read a lot of PATD and FOB stuff. I am not a big fan of GSF, but other than that I am pretty easy. I love AUs and more canon-compliant stuff equally. Frank Iero is pretty much my bso for bandom, but seriously, all pairings and bands are equally awesome. Women = yay, het/slash/gen = yay, heavy topics = yay, silliness = yay, violence = yay, sweetness = yay. You get the drift!
In BTVS, I pretty much would just like to avoid Angel/Buffy, as it weirds me out. I love the fandom, though, and will nom anything you throw at me.
In Inception, I don't even have a breath of a preference! It's all too new, and I would love anything.

Date: 2010-09-05 05:43 pm (UTC)Dear reader, thank you so much for recording something just for me! I like lots of things in fic: I love drama and fluff and case-of-the-week/alien-of-the-week and long epic romances. I like het and slash and gen. I'm a total sucker for stories where they can't have each other (Janeway/Chakotey is the ultimate "I love you but being with you would fuck everything up" pairing, and there's also that dynamic in some Kirk/McCoy, Carter/Blake, & Miles/Gregor fic).
Specific likes for each of my fandoms:
Trek (all series): What I love most about Trek is it's unrelenting optimism about the human condition. It's my go-to fandom for when I'm feeling beaten down by cynicism (I'm an activist in RL and oh God, is it hard to stay optimistic). I love stories about humans overcoming our failings and rising to the challenge of doing good even when it's hard. I also really like the way the franchise uses the non-human characters (Spock, Data, Odo, Seven-of-nine) as a foil for humanity.
Specific pairings I love (although please please don't feel limited to this, and I also love genfic): McCoy with just about anyone, in either TOS or Reboot, although there is special place in my heart for K/M. How much do I love our cranky doctor? Oh so much. I love that McCoy is damaged and angry but still trying to love as best he can. I love that he went into Starfleet just because it was a job to do, but ended up living into Starfleet ideals. I love his snark and crankiness. I also ship Spock/Uhura, but please please, not while they are both at the academy. Teacher/student is a minor squick for me so fanwanking that away in Reboot is the way to go.
Moving on to the other series: I don't really have any TNG ships -- I prefer gen fic in this fandom, especially stories about the politics of the three major political powers (Federation, Klingon, Romulan). I have so much love for Dax (in all hir incarnations), Kira, and Ben. I love stories about Curzon's exploits, or Jadzia's adventures, or how Ezri comes to terms with suddenly being a host. I love stories that examine how Kira goes from being a revolutionary to being an administrator. I particularly ship Kira/Odo, Kira/Ben, Kira/Jadzia, and Bashir/Miles. As I mentioned in a previous paragraph, I'm also a total sucker for Janeway/Chakotey, and I also love Tom/Harry.
Deadwood: I don't actually know that there are any stories long enough to qualify, but if there are, I would love to know about them. I love Deadwood for completely opposite reasons than those for ST. I like that the show doesn't shy away from the ugly reality of frontier life, but even in the midst of a nasty, brutish existence, the characters still have moments of grace and love. I love the women of Deadwood most -- Jane and Joanie and Trixie and Jewel -- but there are so many layers of relationships between all the characters that it's hard to pick a single favorite character or pairing. I love Dan's devotion to Al, and Janes devotion to Wild Bill, and Seth and Sol's friendship, and the grudging respect Silas and Dan eventually develop for each other and the way Joanie tries to care for poor, wounded Jane
The Wire: I must confess, I never watched S5 because I couldn't bring myself to care about the reporters, and McNulty's descent into madness was too hard for me to watch. This is another fandom I love for it's unflinching portrayal of life, especially the way that organizations are broken and cause horrible things to happen even though the individuals in the organization mean well. I particularly love Omar, Dee, Bodie, Wallace, Kima, and Carver, and love stories featuring any of them, be they gen or slash.
Eureka and Warehouse 13: I love both these shows for their hijinks. Case-of-the-week stories would be great here. I would rather not see Myka/Pete (their vibe is way too sibling like for me to suspend disbelief) or Artie/Claudia (the age difference is kind of squicky), but otherwise I'll be happy with any pairing or no pairing.
Leverage: Another show I love for the hijinks! I like Hardison/Parker/Elliot in any configuration, and avoid Nate/anyone because Nate's angst is not terribly fun for me to watch or read.
Justified: I love for many of the same reasons I love The Wire and Deadwood. I particularly love Boyd's arc, and the father/son interactions.
Vorkosigan Verse: I admit it, I totally ship Miles/Gregor. I love Miles so so much, and would be happy with any Miles-centric story, regardless of ship.
Young Wizards: I love this entire 'verse, so any story that features wizards doing wizardly things would make me very happy.
You can see stories I liked at http://www.delicious.com/phirecs and http://archiveofourown.org/users/phi/bookmarks. Which is not to say you have to read something I've bookmarked, but that it might give you an idea of the kinds of stories I like.
Thank you again, dear reader, and most of all, I hope you have fun performing whatever story you pick.
