That was all [livejournal.com profile] kronos999! She had patiently waited for us to get our last-minute reading to her, then edited our parts together.

This is one of my favorite fics in the fandom (or any fandom, really) - I'm so glad someone turned it into a podfic.

I'm looking forward to listening to this so much.

Thank you!

I hope you like it. I'll admit, when I saw you'd be down for J2, I took it and ran since this was a story I've been wanting to podfic for a while.

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the story, but [livejournal.com profile] paraka is kind of hard to deny when she gets going. Jensen's point of view is so different that he was really a delight to read.

Well, one of the nice things about J2 AUs is that they can easily read as Original Slash. Actually when I made a post about this podfic over on my LJ I said: I have loved this fic ever since I read it. It's just one of those stories that resonates with you long after you finish reading it. The way [livejournal.com profile] ladyjanelly tells her story is amazing and heart breaking and uplifting all at once. It also threw me because it was never what I expected. I can't say too much on it without giving away massive spoilers, but I will say this is a really moving fic that was able to show a side of humanity we often don't pay enough attention to and I will always love it for opening my eyes. Seriously, even if you don't like podfic or find my voice annoying or something, I still highly recommend your read the fic (even if you aren't into J2, it's an AU, so can totally be taken as original fic).

So basically, I highly recommend this fic, even if you're not in this fandom, and even if you don't want to listen to the podfic version of it :)

Hah, but, see, podfic is key here -- I have now listened to a substantial chunk of it, and I...don't actually like the story all that much? But I really like your recording, it's kind of compelling. Can't believe how good the sound quality is across all readers, and the sound levels are amazingly even too! Need to come back and give proper feedback once I've finished :)

Interesting. I guess the story can be a little heavy, and if it's not something that you're interested in, you're not going to enjoy it. I'm glad the reading is working for you though. As with most people, by the end of a podfic, I kind of hate my reading, so it's good to know it's mostly in my head :P

Well, we cheated a bit. The three of us live together, and at [livejournal.com profile] diurnal_lee's suggestion, we decided we would all do the recordings in the same room, on the same computer using the same mic at the same sound levels. It's a lot easier to be even when you can record like that. ;)

achtung, zombie comment!

I just realized I never got back to you about this. I figured something out, a little. I did like the story! and especially the ending. But what made me uneasy was [livejournal.com profile] diurnal_lee's rendition of Jensen, sometimes. Because she expressed Jensen's innocence through a [high-pitched and soft = childlike] voice, it would often borderline squick me. Intellectually, I know they're the same age in the story, but from an audio perspective, the story was borderline chan. I still think you all did an amazing job with this, and I enjoed listening! but I just thought I'd share what didn't work for me, too :)

You know that's actually a conversation we had while recording. How it could be slightly squicky to read Jensen's childlike descriptions. And we discussed the difference between childlike and childish and the distinction to author made an effort to make. It was a hard line to walk since that really is how Jensen comes off in the fic.

Thanks again for your feedback :)

[livejournal.com profile] paraka, your jared's tenderness for Jensen made me ache with its loveliness. I really *felt* jared's love and adoration for jensen through your reading. My favorite bit though was how you read jared's observation of jensen's dialogue when he finally made it to the hotel after being released from the police station. Jensen's *why* almost made me tear up!! Gah, AWESOME!

[livejournal.com profile] diurnal_lee, your jensen was absolutely spot-on. The precise way you related his thoughts and how you showed his simple-innocent reactions, freaking awesome! Also, I love your voice. <3

[livejournal.com profile] kronos999, I adored your Jeff when he beat the rat poisoner the most, but your Mackenzie was really spectacular as well. Her youthful, stubborn and eventual relenting to the situation was beautifully and realistically portrayed in your reading.

You three did an amazing job on this story!! What a wonderful group! Thank you all for your hard work!! <3<3<3

I enjoyed this *immensely*. Especially the person who read Jared's POV, I felt like every 'mine' or 'yours' was infused with meaning and emotion. It never became just another word, which is always a possibility when something is repeated so often in a podfic.
