It's short notice, but they're short ficlets, and I think the end product could be a really lovely way for the podfic world to add to the

So, does anyone want to play?
ETA: The project is going really well. There are over 40 ficlets being worked on by various readers, and the end result is going to be amazing. Anybody who would like to join in, for as few or as many stories as you like, let me know and I will PM you the link to spreadsheet where we're keeping track of who is recording what. The more voices, the better, so feel free to jump in at any time. Yay

ETA2: You can also look through the ficlets on the RPF-only spinoff of the ficathon using this delicious.

Date: 2011-02-04 01:52 am (UTC)So, logistics. Either comment here or PM me with a list of any ficlets you want to do. You can update the list throughout the week, but let me know the ones you decide on as you decide on them so that I can make sure two people don't unintentionally do the same story (though if people want to intentionally multipod something, that'd be awesome).
Author permission will be up to the individual podfic artists to get, so try to contact the authors early, in case they take a few days to respond, since we're on a pretty tight schedule.
Then PM or email me links to mp3 versions of each podficlet as you complete it. Deadline for sending them in will be Feb. 12th midnight, so I can get everything put together to post on the 13th.

Date: 2011-02-04 02:07 am (UTC)Rather than have you run around, maybe a shared spreadsheet in Google might help us keep from doubling by accident? We can make and share our own edits pretty instantaneously that way.
I'm really excited about this!

Date: 2011-02-04 01:36 am (UTC)A) should we start spamming authors with "Can I podfic you please?" PMs yet?
B) How are we working the format of our (hopefully plentiful) podifcs?
C) How are we keeping track of who's recording what?
(no subject)
Date: 2011-02-04 01:47 am (UTC)A) I don't see why not! I mean, I guess you could double-check the blanket permission list (http://community.livejournal.com/multipodicity/874.html) first to see if permission is already given, but otherwise it seems best to ask as early as possible.
B) If everyone sends me mp3 versions, I can compile them all into an m4b, and then when I post the compilation I can offer 1) the m4b, 2) a .zip of all the mp3s, and 3) individual links to the mp3s for people who are only interested in certain fandoms or whatever.
C) I'm about to comment back to all the people on this post, but I think what's best is if everyone either comments with (or PMs me with, if they prefer) the list of ficlets they want to do, and I will make sure that if there are duplicates both parties are informed and people can work out whether they want to double up on the story or whether they want to choose one of them to do it. My guess is that publicly commenting with your intended will make it more likely that other people won't get set on doing the same ficlet, but I can also see how people might be uncomfortable publicly naming a story before talking to the author, so that's why PM is also an option. Either way, I'll keep an eye on everyone's lists and make sure that unintentional doubling doesn't happen. (Although I am a big supporter of multipodding as a general concept.)

Date: 2011-02-04 07:44 pm (UTC)I've PMed you.
I accidentally pressed send on the PM too early, so let me just add that you can go ahead and add ficlets to the spreadsheet before you've heard back about author permission. You'll still need to contact the authors before we post, but for internal planning purposes we care more right now about intention than certainty.

Date: 2011-02-08 12:00 am (UTC)Basically, weigh the fact that these are only two minute ficlets and you don't want your header to be half as long as your ficlet against the fact that these will be played for many people all in a row, and so info like fandom may not be easy for them to figure out unless you say it.
