Okay, so I'd thought I had read just about every SPN/AtS crossover out there, and then I find out that not only did I miss one, but that it's such an awesome story as to merit being podficced? Part of me is giddy with excitement over a new fic, and part of me is shaking my head at my own gooberishness. (I'll let you know more one way or the other once I've had a chance to listen to the podfic...)

From what I understand from Topaz, this was written very early on in SPN time, maybe season one even, so. And actually I'm still trying to get around to watching Angel, but I enjoyed this a story lot anyway (love Chris Kane). I'm excited to hear what you think!

I have been dreadfully neglectful about giving you feedback, since you've become my very favorite (in an incredibly impressive field) SPN podficcer. Your voice and accent are so very well suited to these characters and their world, and the people with whom they interact. And I love your readings, your interpretations of the dialog. I love podficcing as performance art, and listening to your performances is a very great pleasure, for which I'm deeply grateful.

I listened to this as soon as the download finished, and wow, what a treat. This is a fantastic story and the pairing is all kinds of brilliance; makes me wonder why it had never occurred to me before. As always, I loved your reading. Wow, I'm...overwhelmed, really. Podfic doesn't get a lot of comments in general--it's more trouble to leave feedback for it than it is for fic because you have to download, listen, then go back and find the link to post your comment--I get it. Plus, how many times can you say, "Good reading"?

So feedback like this is really just amazing.

Your voice and accent are so very well suited to these characters and their world, and the people with whom they interact.

I do sometimes think it's lucky for me that Jared and Jensen are from Texas (as is Christian Kane, via Oklahoma), so I know what they should sound like in the AUs where they actually live in Texas.

And I love your readings, your interpretations of the dialog. I love podficcing as performance art...

I love that you said this, because I love doing them so much and I do tend to choose fic to record that has a lot of dialogue because I love the "acting" that goes with that. I try really hard to put the emotion of it across without going overboard, so thank you so much for noticing and letting me know that you liked it.

Oh, now I really want to listen! I did Caught Inside in the car to/from the office but they're killing me with conference calls this week, including ones spilling over into my commute, but I will figure something out!

You know, I don't listen to my own podfic that much--my voice sounds weird to me--but I have listened to Caught Inside a few times. It's such an enjoyable story and I still think it's my best recording work.

There's nothing super special about the song on Black Throated Wind--just a section at the beginning and end of the fic--but yeah, even though I really want you to like it, it's okay to say if you don't. :) And hey, isn't that cover art that cybel made awesome?

It's funny you should say that--I don't really read anything I've written once I post it--I keep going "oh, I should have done it this way," or "ack, really? I just threw that in there, didn't I?"--but listening to you read Caught Inside was a completely different experience, almost as though I could turn off the editor in my brain and enjoy it as it was. I'm really looking forward to seeing if that carries over to BTW.

And yes, the cover art was a treat to find! It's always cool to see the story through something like that (the collages for CI were a revelation--I was still writing madly on it, but every time theantimodel sent me another cut of the pictures, it was like a spotlight on the characters.

That is so interesting; it strikes me as the way Big Bangs really SHOULD be. I've done a crossover Big Bang (where the collaboration was nowhere near that level of awesome) and more recently the Reverse Big Bang (which was better), but I've never gotten up the nerve to try the SPN J2 Big Bang.

But I do know what you mean about having trouble reading old fic--sometimes I have the reaction you're talking about here, and other times I don't want to look because I remember it as being kind of awful, then I read and think, "Hey, this really isn't that bad." :D Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed experiencing your story as a podfic. I do consider it a sort of performance art and try to put myself inside the characters head when I read--that's most of the fun of it for me, in fact, which is why I tend to choose stories with either really great dialogue, or inner monologue, or both.

I don't comment nearly as much as I should, but I just wanted to let you know that I always love your podfic. You have one of my favorite voices to listen to, and I always know it's going to be a great story of you've picked it. This was no exception!

Oh, no worries--I know it's not easy to comment on podfic. You have to go back and hunt down the original post after you've listened, plus it's hard to think of new things to say to the same reader.

So thank you for taking the time to do that in spite of the hassle. And thanks for the compliment on my good taste in stories. :D It's certainly true that I only spend my limited recording time on stories that I absolutely loved myself, so I'm glad that you enjoyed it as well. Thanks again!
