Hey guys, I'm a real n00b at podficcing--I haven't even recorded my first fic. Problem: I don't have a mic yet. Could you please recommend some mics, or perhaps let me know which ones you are using? I'm looking for something affordable/lower priced :) Thank you so much! I really, really appreciate it!!!

Before you buy anything - are you using a computer with a webcam? If you are, you may not even need to buy a mike. For instance, Macs have built-in webcams, and the microphone part of iSight can be used to record audio without any kind of external paraphernalia. You have to enunciate a bit more, and no heavy breathing, but it'll save you the hassle of comparison shopping....

Hope this helps ;-)

Hello!
I actually have two microphones (one for my laptop and one for my desktop), but they both work wonderfully.

1. Logitech USB Microphone (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Logitech+-+USB+Desktop+Microphone/5431927.p?id=1055388008858&skuId=5431927&st=USB microphone&cp=1&lp=1) is the one I use with my laptop. Just put a sock over it and you're good to go.

2. I can't remember what my other mic is, but I know it's more expensive (it came with software and stuff). When I get home 2nite, I'll take a look and see what it is.

Good luck!

I use the mic built into my MP3 player, a Sansa Fuze. It doesn't cope well if I yell into it, but otherwise it works great!

I love my Blue Yeti mic. Works great with my Macbook and Garage Band, very simple operation and sound is good!

I use a head mic, because I find it much more comfortable. My current one is made by phillips, has a noise cancelling mic, and cost about £25.
