Title: The Reaching Out One
Author: [livejournal.com profile] alex51324
Reader: [livejournal.com profile] luzula
Fandom: due South
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17
Length: 6 h 10 m 35 s
Author's summary: It's ten years after the events of CoTW (in other words, the present day). After the Quest, Fraser and Ray went back to their regular lives--Fraser as a Mountie in Deline, NWT and Ray as a detective in Chicago, IL. Every year they take their vacation time together and look for the hand of Franklin, the reaching out one, and when they run out of time they put a pin in the map and the next year they pick up where they left off. The story begins when Diefenbaker dies and the whole house of cards crumbles. Ray and Fraser have an adventure, confront their feelings, and rebuild their lives on a more solid foundation.

Notes: This is a post-CotW story that feels fresh and new, and I love it to pieces. I'm afraid the recording is a bit uneven, though. I first started it back in October last year, but then I had a cold that lasted for five months, and then came Amplificathon. Now that I listen to the bits I did last fall, I notice that my reading style has changed, partly because of taking singing lessons, and partly because I've speeded up a bit. Also, I've been moving around, so there are different acoustics in different parts of the story. But I don't seem to have the energy to re-record the first half (especially since I already had to do some re-recording because of lost files). I hope you enjoy it anyway. Whew, this was a long project. Thanks to the author for letting me record it!

Download part one and part two at Sendspace. (It's in eight mp3 files, but I can't upload it all in one zip file--it's too big.)

Reader: [livejournal.com profile] luzula
Fandom: due South
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17
Length: 1 h 14 m 26 s
Author's summary: Fraser keeps an eye on Ray for signs of a broken heart.
Notes: This one's a classic. I think the part I enjoyed most here was doing an impression of Bob Fraser singing "Danny Boy" pitched too high for his voice. *g* Thanks to the author for the blanket permission!

Title: Quiet In Drowning
Author: [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9
Reader: [livejournal.com profile] luzula
Fandom: Wilby Wonderful
Characters: Duck, Buddy, OMCs
Rating: NC-17
Length: 57 m 07 s
Author's warning: This story contains graphic, violent and disturbing subject matter, including non-con.
Author's summary: It rained the morning Duck McDonald left home.
Notes: This is not exactly a happy story, but there's hope at the end, and I can imagine that something like this did happen to Duck. I hope I did it justice. Thanks to the author for letting me record it!

I appreciate all the hard work represented by these podfics. Your voice, as usual, is sonorous and interesting. I really enjoy the Resonant fic, which was an old favorite that I had not thought of in years. Many Regards.

Ooo! Ooo! Ooo!

I'm so excited to add three lovely fics read by you. I'm glad I don't have to name "my favorite podficcer" because there's an embarrassment of riches. But you reading Alex's lovely story!!!!

Oh, The Reaching Out One is one of my favorite dS stories ever, and your podfic comes at the perfect time -- I have a 6 (or so) hour drive coming up, accompanied by a fannishly-minded friend, and now I know just what we are going to listen to on the way!

Just to let you know, The Reaching Out One was a great accompaniment to our trip! My friend who was driving had not read the story before, and she got pulled right in to the story and loved it. (made her cry, too....)

Quiet In Drowning has no pairing listed so I've archived it as gen, but I'm quite certain that's not correct based on the rating alone. Let me know what pairings are in the fic and I'll update the archive entry. :)

Hi! *waves*
I've been listening to your Due South podfic recordings for the last 10 hours and I just wanted to tell you how wonderful it is that you've done this. I've been trying to finish crocheting a couple blankets before my friend's twins are born, and these podfics have made the time has just fly by. Thanks so much! =D

I finished listening to this while I was gardening today. I love your deadpan voice, it's perfect for Fraser's sense of humour:)

I listened to your reading of The Reaching Out One a while ago and I'm ashamed to be so late in letting you know how much I love it.
I was amazed by how expressive and nuanced your voice was, to a degree that I could hear the cold, and Fraser's loneliness, and his and Ray's years of friendship, and so many other things, just from the way you shaped the words and sentences. I love how Fraser and Ray each have a slightly different rhythm when you speak, where you're not 'doing voices' but a hint of them comes through in your voice. (By the way, I also really love your voice, which might sound slightly creepy but I mean it in the nicest way, really.)
I'm so glad that I haven't read the fic before I heard your podfic, because now it's all one perfect whole in my mind, with the author's words and your take on them in harmony.
In short, this podfic is amazing, and so are you!

Quiet in Drowning was devastating, but ultimately hopeful, and made me hope there were more in this series...thank you for recording it, I just watched Wilby Wonderful this weekend, and now find a whole new little world to explore...I find myself loving the soothing sound of your voice on long walks around the neighborhood...

Oh, good! Thank you, I definitely want to read Unsent, and will happily listen to it as well, if you ultimately decide to record it. 30,000 words, though - I estimate that is about 3 or 4 hours, so a pretty major committment!
