Hi there, everyone.
I first discovered this com by accident about a year ago, and did the lurking/secret-sneaky-downloading-of-podfics thing for a while. I've branched out, however, into the more proactive field of actually making a podfic. I'm new to this recording-a-podfic thing, and while I have two bitty pieces of podfic recorded (and a two-hour-extravaganza in the works, now that I know how to turn on GarageBand), I'm not entirely sure what to do with them now. How do I go about posting them to the interwebz, so that people other than my sister can hear them? What's the format for this com? Any technical stuff I need to know? I'm so impressed by everyone's work here - I only hope my seven-minutes-and-steadily-growing catalogue of podfic can stand up in comparison! Please and thank you in advance for any advice...
P.S. - Did I mention my super-newness to all things even slightly technical? I hope I put the right tags on this...

Date: 2010-08-17 11:28 am (UTC)Well, you already have some podfic to download via megaupload on your lj, I noticed. And that's pretty much how you do it if you want to post it here too (except as an mp3). Just post the link to the download and all the information like a link to the original text, the author's name and so forth. I guess, something like this:
<b>Title:</b>
<b>Author:</b>
<b>Reader:</b>
<b>Fandom:</b>
<b>Rating:</b>
<b>Format/Length:</b>
<b>Link to text:</b>
<b>Notes:</b>
<b>Download link:</b>
The required format in this comm is mp3 (and as an addition you can also add the podfic as m4b or m4a, but you have to have it as an mp3), I've never used GarageBand, but aparently to get mp3s you go to menu->share->export song to disk (making sure that you've chosen "Compress using MP3 encoder").
I really can't think of anything else. Hopefully I don't sound confusing. I'm not very good at cooherent advice. :)

As for tags, don't worry too much about the. I'm the local tagging mod, so if you add anything inappropriate or miss any, I'll jump in and fix things. I'm anal like that. :-)
Welcome to the podficcing community!

Date: 2010-08-17 06:19 pm (UTC)I mean, I'm easily excitable.... and I'm hoping this doesn't turn out like that time stained glass caught my attention, and then died an ignoble death when I ran out of solder.... but, I'm such a huge fan of all the amazing work everyone puts up here, and hope I can contribute a bit to that.
