Summary: Two shots ring out in the dead of night behind the exclusive gates of the Laurel Heights community, leaving two of their occupants dead in an apparent murder/suicide - or was it? Detectives Ackles and Padalecki are sent undercover to find the answer. The only problem is that the residents of Laurel Heights are gay couples, so it falls to the Detectives to pretend to be the perfect couple. Oh and did I forget to mention that the two Detectives have a secret of their own.....they're gay men....pretending to be straight men....who now have to pretend to be gay.....oh and one more thing....they can't stand each other. Will they manage to find out the truth behind Laurel Heights without killing each other?

*whumph!* Goodness, that took a while! My apologies to anyone who notices a quality change (some listeners have, some have not) -- my mic died halfway through and I had to get a new (better! whoot!) one. But at that point I'd already read over three hours and for someone who'd only done 15 minute fics before, WHOOF!, not backing up and doing over! (...yet. Heh.)

Hey Res! I stumbled upon this, as I enjoy the occasional podfic, and saw your name. I was like, "I wonder if this is RES Res?" It was! Anyway, I listened to the whole thing, and you did a great job. I'm kind of picky when it comes to the voice and style of reading for podfic, and I enjoyed every minute. I liked that you read it with emotion, kind of acting it out. Thumbs up! I would definitely listen to more of your podfic, though I only tend to listen to stuff that's a couple hours or longer. XD So read another long one!

Ha, well I'm glad I did then! I was particularly intrigued because you faded it right in from the other "happy" ending song which really accented the contrast in the scenes.

That was exactly what I'd hoped to do. I deliberately cut off the other song in the middle of its 'hook' to make that unsettled feeling stronger, and then picked the dark music to completely reset the scene. letsgetstarted had a truely wicked ending on that story, and I hope I did it justice!

Just finished listening to this and may I say: W-O-W!! Thank you!!! Oh my Gd this is seriously one of the most amazing recordings ever!! I loved how much emotion your voice carried and I especially loved (and giggled a bit) when you used your voice twice when people shouted something at the same time!! It was really really amazing!! Thank you so much for this!! I'm not a native speaker so understanding perfectly everything you said was such a relief! I always worry that I won't be able to understand someone's accent or way of speaking, but your voice was very clear! Oh and the music at the end?? GENIUS!! I had goosebumps on my arms!!

I am working on a few more, but I just moved a few months ago and am having some difficulty finding a quiet, private recording area in my new home. (little ears are listening in and some of this -- *cough* ok, MOST of this -- is not appropriate for pre-teen minds) But I am doing more, and I have another from letsgetstarted that I've been asked to read, as well as several from K Hannah Korossy and Gaelicspirit (and a few others) that I've asked for and received permission to read. Just gotta get some ME time away from little nippers, in a QUIET area, and I'll be producing more.

But I am SO glad you enjoyed it!

I have some auditory dyslexia, myself, so clear and careful pronunciation is important to me, for listening, and I try to carry it over to my speaking. I'm very pleased it worked for you!
