 Working on my podbang assignment, I'll call it a learning experience. I'd never worked on a podfic over an hour long before. Mostly because I have a deep seated hatred for editing. I made so many errors I could have pasted them together and made another six hours of recordings. I got tired of hearing my own voice, so I bribed one of my roommates to do the final listen for the first 6 chapters. Then she wouldn't do the last six, not ever for double the amount of cookies.

 Time was what got me by the end. I was very bad about planning and then life came in at the end a started smacking me around..so I used up two extensions. I probably gave the mods deadline trauma. But despite all that I really had a good time doing it.

I did my first edit in fast forward. That cut down on some of the time of editing. Plus it helped with me getting tired of hearing my voice. Another thing I did was make a pop filter for my mic out of nylons and an embroidery loop. I recorded one chapter at a time. I like to read from hard copy but when I looked at printing out 100s of pages I decided to read most of it from the computer screen.

 I recorded with audacity 1.3. I didn't have any problems with audacity crashing. Audacity is probably a very powerful editing tool, I just haven't learned how to make it do all the things that I want it to do, yet. I had 2 times of day that I can record either at 6am-9am and at 11pm to about 1 am. The upstairs neighbors are very noisy. In the AM my voice is different than the PM...so my recordings probably sound like 2 different people are reading them.

About the middle of working on my assignment I totally got discouraged and went about avoiding my computer or hissing at it. That ate up a bunch of my time. I waited until the last minute to start editing that was a mistake. Also as I was working through my extension I found that I had forgotten to record a whole chapter...the 3^rd longest. Doh!

 Well I've learned lots from doing the podbang. Mostly that I am a horrible procrastinator. I did enjoy doing it and hopefully I'll do better next time. I really enjoyed reading other readers experiences, the tips and advice.
