author's summary: Detective John Sheppard starts his new life in suburbia and becomes steadily captivated by his neighbor, Dr. Rodney McKay, and his son Timothy. This fic started because I wondered why Rodney never got to be the tragic woobie widower in fics.

I read this story years ago and loved it - *cough* maybe I am a LITTLE over-excited about this year's podbang but I feel like x-mas is already here. Can't wait to read this one!

I am enjoying it tremendously! Especially the soundbits like the sander and Friday The 13th and whatnot - they make the story really come alive.

Though, if I may offer some concrit? A few of the soundbits are rather loud in comparison to your voice, so it takes some concentration to understand what you're saying. Maybe you could tone them down a bit next time? Then again, I'm not a native speaker, so it might just be that I need less distraction to catch all the words. :)

Thanks - I will do that. I had hoped that it wouldn't overwhelm the reading, and I'm sorry it gave you difficulties.

I am glad, though, that you liked the additions - I've become aware that not everyone likes that sort of thing, but I had fun doing it.

Listened to this recently - and loved it! Thanks for doing this one, don't know why I never noticed the fic itself but I'd not read it before. Your voice and recording were excellent and the fic itself wasn't saccharine at all really (which I'd feared it might be). I also like it when podficcers pull together all the bits in a verse so you can enjoy it as a whole. A great series, well recorded - thanks.

ETA: oh yeah - the sound-effects were cool too, but like lavvyan, tone down the volume slightly I think for the best effect. But they were still cool!

Sorry so late in responding!!!

Elayna is working on the next part of the 'verse. She graciously gave me a sneak preview, and it is WONDERFUL. I can't wait to record it when it's done.

I will be posting both a correction (especially in part 1, the sound was slightly out of sync, so louder than I originally intended it to be, and also, well, too loud - I about jumped out of MY skin on the ice skating music, and I knew it was coming!) and a "no effects" version that will keep the beginning and end themes, but take out the scene setups. Watch the comm in late February!

Because I am a year late/newly invigorated about podbang...

I listened to Woobie-verse yesterday, in what pretty much counts as a single sitting. Gorgeous. It is such a happy-place fic (which I hadn't read before), and the way you read it was awesome. I especially liked how John handled coming out, and not coming out, and Ronon, and all those uncomfortable situations. And aside from being truly jumpy about the noise of the sander, the music and such worked well.

(Being weird, replying to another thread, but this way you'll get a comment notice.)

Well, thank you - it's never too late to hear nice things!! RL has been kickin' my booty - I had expected to have the corrections mentioned here done months ago - and I have DAYS worth of fic that I've secured permission to record.

Maybe if I just quit my job....?

Ratz - nobody's gonna pay me to podfic....guess I'll have to keep on keepin' on and make time for podfic when I can.

I do feel bad about not doing as much as I wanted to do. I'm looking forward to podbang!
