la la la! (that's the sound of this third of podmod pretending she isn't a day behind where she meant to be, prize-posting-wise.)

okay! first, a general community statement: we'll have more details soon about how the future challenge bits of the amplificathon will work, but in the meantime, we want to make it clear that you are, indeed, welcome to continue to post podfic here. anything posted will be archived, and i'll comment to the post with a permanent link/archive link. we recognize that some of the stuff posted here doesn't have a place in any other relatively high-traffic community - so go right ahead. cross-posting is fine, too. :) of course, we continue to encourage more posting in fandoms and pairings that are otherwise scarce, but we like the stuff that's thick on the ground, too.

i desperately wanted to call these the less-than-three collections. but then we opened it up a bit, and now they are unofficially the less-than-five collections instead. i have to admit, i <5 them to pieces. :p

there were some comments about short works - the general feeling was that they are awesome, and fun as hell to record, and that there is a ton of high-quality fic out there that's under 1,000 words. so we don't want to discourage recording! but there was also a feeling that they can be less convenient for a listener, and that people trying out podfic listening might actually be discouraged by the process of downloading if the payoff is something pretty short. so this is our solution! a couple of sampler packs, for days when you feel less like sinking into a story for a couple of hours, and more like skipping happily across the surface. :)

so, here at hivequarters, we made a giant list of everything under three minutes! then we said fuck it, in for a penny... and made a list of everything under five minutes. then there was a whole lot of spreadsheet action. we made an arbitrary decision to limit readers at around twenty minutes total, and files were pulled out of the list until everyone was there, pretty much. we also eliminated files that were part of a larger series, and files that had already been included in the new fandoms collection. then we played with ways to order the results. then it was 3 am and, um, alphabetical order happened. BECAUSE I WAS TIRED, OKAY? :p

there you go! a glimpse inside the workings of the podmod modding machinery.

I really like this idea. (I've even done something similar with the short tracks on my computer). Are the tags on this edited to say 'vol 1' or 'vol 2' and tracknumbers, or are they just a collection of short files? (I ask because of download times...) Thanks for collecting these!

They're collected into two separately downloadable podbooks. The individual tracks should show up as chapters on an iPod for the purpose of forwarding back and forward, but the two collections DL as a unit for each 'book. I inserted the track listings data under the Lyrics tab in iTunes for convenience sake.
