well, if you thought each grouping functioned independently in the story, then you would count each separately. so in your hypothetical example, if it's just that they function as a threesome (emotionally and/or sexually), then you would just count the threesome and list as drusilla/spike/angel. but if they also function in pairings, then it could totally be drusilla/spike/angel; drusilla/spike; drusilla/angel; angel/spike. for four groupings. but you would need to make sure all the pairings you are listing are actually in the story, not just possible, or in the canon. i have read sga ot4 that was sheppard/dex/mckay/emmagan but never independently managed sheppard/dex or dex/mckay when the four weren't together. so even though i assume it would be likely, it wasn't in there. of course, i've read other ot4 where it was, or where it was only ot4 and there were no pairings - it was all four or nothing. does that make any sense?
