Author's summary: Before he meets Charles, Erik has a few moments to himself in the Hellfire Club.

Notes from the reader: This is a prequel to the much longer "Hellfire AU" series, written by helens78 and cesare (which, HELP ME, I am in the process of recording now).

While this piece doesn't contain any of the "big four" warnings (underage, noncon, graphic violence, or character death), it does contain other elements that some people might like a heads-up on; I really do recommend going to the text and checking out the headers before jumping in. The Hellfire AU takes place in an alternate universe where mutants are enslaved; it is a dark AU.

The intro/outro music (a first for me! feedback very welcome) is Maria McKee's "Carried", which is also where the title comes from.
