\o/ Your response was exactly what I hoped for (well, nor our mutual love fest for you as a reader and All These Things, though I agree that your reading and that story are just perfect :): trusting a reccer is a pretty big thing, so rec posts where I know nothing make me uncertain if we have any shared interests/tastes, whereas rec posts where I pretty much already know every piece are effectively fun but won't get me new fic! So i'm glad I could provide that great mix :)
I adore AUs, and one of the reasons I do is that I actually love them as entries into new fandoms. I know many people feel differently and i know that i miss layers that do engage intertextually with the source text, but an AU has to create its own world, so that it is comprehensible even in the absence of knowing the source and yet gives clear ideas who these characters and their dynamic are...
