Soundcloud app weirdness

All day--or possibly since sometime yesterday?--every time I access amplificathon here on DW a generic file named "player" automatically downloads to my Mac. Checking it via Get Info indicates it is from Soundcloud.

Is this happening to anyone else? Any suggestions as to how to stop it happening? It's extremely annoying and worrisome!

I've been wanting to download Luzula's Quenya podfic, but there's absolutely no link or anything showing up on my computer (just about ten lines of blank space). I just checked the source code and see that my computer is blocking Soundcloud, and thus preventing me from even seeing where the podfic is.

My guess would be that my computer is blocking it because it tries to automatically install stuff? I've never seen this before yesterday, so it may be a new thing that Soundcloud is doing. *shakes fist*

Ack, I wonder if this is because of my recent Soundcloud link? I just C&P their embed code, and it's always worked before. I don't get any weird automatic downloads, I think...

Huh. If Soundcloud keeps doing that, I'll stop using it. For now, I've replaced it with a link to the file at box.com. Hope this stops the weirdness...

It started long before your post. I think now it must have been with the previous post using Soundcloud. On that one, I got the blank space Busaikko mentions, though yours looks okay.

This just started with me today on Live Journal. I even unsubscribed from Amplification over there to see if it would stop it. It's helped on some pages but not all. Any ideas how to get rid of it? It's very frustrating.

Ouch.

I don't have a clue what was going on, just that it appears to have been associated with Soundcloud. After happening over and over for me yesterday on DW, the problem is gone today, and I've not had it happen on LJ at all.

It wasn't just amplificathon. Apparently, there was another community as well that was causing it. By leaving that one, too, it stopped, or at least it has so far.

Bizarre.
