okay, here goes! this form is to indicate what you can read/pinch hit/beta/potentially help out with art/whatever!

if you are a participant, please follow the link and fill this out! it's the information we will use to match you up with another participant for the exchange.

if you are not a participant, but want to sign up as a pinch hitter or to otherwise support participants, please also follow the link and fill it out!

Podbang participant poll is here!

we will be emailing assignments on september 7 & 8.

feel free to comment here if you have concerns or want to give further private guidance that will help us to match you up well. (if you really feel the need to tell us how much you hate a pairing or a kink or a character, go for it.) comments are screened.

if you fill out the form and want to revise your answers later, just fill it out again. :)

hey! so, i need to retake that copy/paste basics class, it seems. i left entourage off the reader preferences form! i am very sorry about that. it is on there now, but if you happen to be one of the eleven participants (and two pinch hitters!) who filled out the form already, and you are pro-reading-entourage, can you drop a comment here? screened, of course. sorry!

we had a question about how best to ask questions of your gift-ee: we would prefer to take questions as screened comments and to ask them on your behalf, via email or lj message or whatever, so that if they want to be surprised come the reveal, they probably will be.

eta! another question: what does beta mean in a podfic context? it means being willing to listen to the podfic, in part or as a whole, and then to tell the reader that it's good and ready for posting. or to tell them if there's a problem with the editing, or it's too quiet (both fixable in post-production). or, in extreme cases, a beta can offer an unbiased second opinion about whether there are problems that mean the reader should start over (the reader always already knows this--but they are only correct 10% of the time). some readers only want to know if they missed editing flubbed lines out - some might want to know if they are talking too fast. being a podfic beta means being conscious of what's inherent to the reader (accent, inflection, voice) and helping them to display their strengths without letting them second-guess themselves. (i have done podfic beta a lot, and most of it is noting down the times of repeated lines that need to be edited out. very occasionally i ask people to reread a line, but that's very rare. 90% of it is telling people how awesome they are. \o/ that is why it's fun!)

and the one piece of information that we are missing (sorry! it came up late! we'll ask up front next year!): we asked in the form what languages you might be interested in *reading* in--in the comments to this post, please tell us (if you haven't already) what languages you might be interested in listening to. <3
