Ha, I had never watched Top Gun and I devoured that fic (I read it before the podfic came out). Actually, it made me watch Top Gun, which sadly was not as good as the fic.
I love tiny fandoms and record in them all the time--my next podfic, for example, will be RPS for Scott's Antarctic expedition. *g*
