I love to rec podfic! Here I've chosen a few recent listens that I haven't yet recced on my journal. (If you want to peruse previous recs feel free - they're here). Most of my listening occurs in Supernatural and Supernatural RPF so that's what these are.
Everything with Wings is Restless by oddishly, read by lavishsqualor (Supernatural, Sam/Dean, NC-17, 1:43:30). After 7 seasons of Sam/Dean I sometimes think I cannot be surprised by it anymore - that everything has been done and that the creative spark has been snuffed out. This piece was a pleasant surprise. A clever piece with witty dialogue, a unique concept, and satisfying romance. An excellent read at an unhurried pace. Well-chosen music really enhanced the story.
Summary: An AU of The Illusionist. The upsides of working a traveling double act with your brother bear a remarkably close resemblance to the downsides. Namely: you travel around the country with your brother (plus one white rabbit) in a big-ass black caravan, and you (sometimes) get paid for it.
The Ones that Can Swallow You Whole by embroiderama, read by exmanhater (Supernatural RPF, Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 1:20:22). Lovely story about overcoming difficult challenges with kindness and courage. The love story was so gentle, and the setting perfect - you can almost hear the sound of water in the background. exmanhater’s sweet voice is perfect accompaniment, her tone is lively and the pacing flawless.
Summary: A near-drowning has left Jared deeply afraid of water--a big problem considering he lives in a beach town. Jensen's a sailboat-builder who's survived a few things himself.
Things My Mother Taught Me by sevenfists, read by heard_the_owl (Supernatural RPF, Jared/Jensen, NC-17, 00:41:21). Feeling down? This will amuse the hell out of you. Told with verve and humor, this is an adorable story that evolves into hot sex - all relayed at an even pace by heard_the_owl’s warm voice. She gives a colorful but understated read that is highly recommended.
Summary: The whole thing was Chad's fault, really. Or - the one where Jared challenges Jensen to a game of Truth or Dare.
