This whole post is awesome. And I mostly agree with you (I don't have specific "comfort podfics but I have used podfics to get me through especially bad days, like hyperventilation bad), except for "Vising Hours" which I had to stop listening to a few weeks ago because it was too depressing. (I do love it to dead but I've been having a few no-serious-longlasting-angst-allowed months and the whole middle part of that one is so hopeless).
Arthur's speech! I listened to The Student Prince a couple days ago and it brought tears to my eyes (I had to copy it and put it on my quotations file (http://docs.google.com/View?id=dgvrv623_849f64f7khg) to stop myself from writing a similar story with changed names or something.
The story about your sister cracked me up. As someone with three younger sisters I've learnt to ask what the emergency is first, none of them have dared mention something as superfluous as lipstick but I keep getting rants about their lack of clothes and I demand proof before I offer any help/early bday presents since other girls seem to have an entirely deranged idea of what "need" means. *adds this to the "reasons not to learn to drive list"*
