The bit where it sounded like the sentence was cut off was actually just the phrasing of the original sentence, but I'm glad you mentioned it - it'll help me refine my reading style for future podfics! :)
As for the file size, I read in some of the podficcing tutorials linked from here (http://audiofic.jinjurly.com/creating-and-submitting-podfic-recordings) that if you adjust the bit rate that your audio recording software exports mp3s with to be lower than the default setting, you can maintain a perfectly decent sound quality for a smaller file size (I use Audacity, and set my bit rate to 48).
