You're looking for the story "His Last Bow" (link goes to Project Gutenberg). Jane treats it as a somewhat unreliable narration, of course; on its own it is a rather bleak epilogue.

I really enjoyed this podfic, thank you! The dramatic parts of the story, in particular, were very well read (I'm thinking of when the conversation gets heated between the four characters) but really, the entire thing was excellent.
