Title: Mavourneen
Author: [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth
Reader: [livejournal.com profile] autumn_opal
Fandom: Jeff and Michael Shaara - Civil War Trilogy
Pairing: Gen
Rating: PG
Summary: As the Union moves inexorably toward civil war, three people share a quiet interlude. If only that moment never had to end. (Winfield Hancock, Mira Hancock, Lewis Armistead)
Length: 9:16 / 6.36MB (mp3)
Music: "Kathleen Mavourneen" from the Gettysburg soundtrack
Link: Temporary link here
Point value: 5 + 2 + (3+3) = 13.

Notes: I'm not sure how many people are familiar with this universe but in a nutshell, it's historical fiction from the (US) Civil War. The books are amazing and this is the only fic I've found that takes place in this universe. (Hurray for Yuletide!)

Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth, who wrote this truly beautiful piece and was lovely enough to let me record it -- I hope I was able to do this justice.

Wow. I'm so glad I found this. I really am. I rather love these books a lot. Thanks so much for recording because, while I certainly enjoy flat out reading, sometimes it's very nice just to give a story a listen, if possible.

Recently there's been more fic (though sadly not much) centering on these people. A few of my friends on Fictionpress have an shared account where they post stuff they've cowritten and much of it focuses on these guys, if you're interested.

They have individual accounts which might have some more stuff as well (you can find their usernames in the profile of their shared account). They (and other people) also post a bit on fanfiction.net mostly in the section for the movie Gettysburg (which, as I'm sure you know, was based on Killer Angels). There is a section for Killer Angels there too, although it sadly only has one fic (but that one fic isn't too bad, actually).

While most of this stuff isn't quite fic for these books, it's probably about as close as you're gonna get. I know for a fact that my friends have read both of the Shaaras' books so there's certainly inspiration from the books in their writing.

So if you're still interested in these books, do enjoy.

Thanks again for recording this. I very much enjoyed it.
