Hi! Oooh, a reader tag, delightful. Hopefully it might be slightly *less* than a year before I use it again. About a year ago I recorded a couple of fics and general_jinjur pointed me toward this comm... it took long enough, but I did eventually get around to recording and posting something!

Hey, I liked this a lot! I love epistolary fic, and I think it often works well as podfic. And there was something wistful about the story that I found moving.

Your accent and reading style is just lovely and works so well with the story. I had to concentrate a little bit to hear sometimes, though, because of the sound quality. Did you use noise reduction? It often gives a sort of metallic quality to the sound.

Anyway, I'd love to listen to more of your podfic. : )

I'm so glad you liked it! I was a bit iffy about how the epistolary style would work when read aloud (no line breaks to set the sections apart), but I picked it because it suited me as a beginning reader - I could record it in tiny little segments. Listening back over it, I think it worked pretty well.

I did use noise reduction, but I have since improved my noise reduction skillz! Possibly not by much, but I'm not coming out so tinny in the things I recorded on Friday night. I forsee a better mic in my future at some point. Or in fact any mic. I can't adjust the settings on my laptop's onboard mic, which drives me bats.

At any rate, I recorded a couple (http://ineptshieldmaid.dreamwidth.org/206945.html) more fics (http://ineptshieldmaid.dreamwidth.org/207317.html) the other night (both Edmund/Caspian pieces, one by me and one by a friend); they're up on the DW version of this com, and I was planning on crossposting them after they'd been archived. :D

I started out recording with the mike on my mp3-player, and I got tired of the noise, too. I have a ZOOM H2 now which I am very happy with, but it's a bit pricey. Anyway, there are posts both on amplificathon and on podfic_tips where people give tips on how to find good, cheap microphones.
