Re: Just finished...

not to mention *this* story - is one of my absolute favourites right?
I love this story so much too. I remember when I first got into the Torchwood fandom, I happily threw myself into the Jack/Ianto pairing. I puttered along for a while, having fun, then I hit an absolutely heart breaking story about Ianto growing old and dying while Jack looked on. Suddenly it occurred to me Immortal+Mortal=Not the Best Idea. :(

Ever since then, my favourite fics in this fandom have been ones where Ianto is an alien of some kind and is able to overcome the whole going-to-die-before-Jack thing. (On that note, have you listened to the Windhovers series by [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticchick, read by [livejournal.com profile] neo_star0114? It's an awesome story and probably the one I mention the most when talking about Torchwood fic).

our lovely, calm voice added another layer to the dichotomy of the matter-of-factness of Ianto's perception of his life when placed against the fantastical nature of himself and his life. I also loved your accent!
Hee, I'm glad! While I'm ok with the sound of my own voice, I spend a lot of time wincing and wishing I had better diction when I listen to myself. I'm glad that you were able to enjoy it.

As for accents, there was just no way I could try and do the actor's accents. Inevitably after about 5 minutes of my trying to do an accent that isn't my own, it ends up sounding like a French accent. Unless, of course, I'm attempting a French accent, in which case it sounds like something similar but still completely wrong. So, really, it's much better all around if I just used my own, Canadian, accent. At least it's very close to Jack's....
